Job Overview

A reputable and thriving personal injury law firm is seeking a skilled Legal Assistant to support their team. This role is essential in assisting attorneys throughout the lifecycle of a case, from inception to resolution. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in both pre-litigation and litigation processes. This is a full-time hybrid position that offers a Sign-on Bonus.

Key Responsibilities

The Legal Assistant will be tasked with a variety of duties, including but not limited to:

  • Conducting initial medical assessments and case evaluations, including the analysis of medical documentation and drafting demand letters.
  • Facilitating negotiations for pre-litigation settlements with insurance entities.
  • Negotiating medical expenses with healthcare providers to achieve case settlements.
  • Comprehending and negotiating medical payment and health insurance liens.
  • Preparing detailed settlement breakdowns and managing the distribution of settlement funds.
  • Filing legal complaints and court documents as prepared by attorneys.
  • Assisting in the preparation of discovery responses and requests while collaborating closely with clients and attorneys.
  • Managing court deadlines and scheduling appearances.
  • Organizing trial files and creating trial binders.
Qualifications

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in both pre-litigation and litigation settings.
  • Familiarity with common automobile-related injuries, terminology, and treatment protocols.
  • Knowledge of standard litigation timelines and procedures.
  • Attention to detail, strong communication skills, and excellent time management abilities are essential. Candidates should be capable of working independently with minimal training.
