Summary
To support the General Accounting Department by providing accurate and data based information on company's profitability, solvency, stability and liquidity. Will perform research and analyze financial information to help the firm make well informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements. Duties will include by are not limited to, management reports, annual budget, forecasting, account analysis as well as financial reporting on the firm's international entities. Will perform general accounting and financial analysis work for the Firm.
Location
This position is located in our Reston office.
Responsibilities
- Consolidates and analyzes statistical and financial data (budgets, revenue, income statement, demand for services, etc.) taking into account company's goals and financial standing.
- Develops financial models, conducts benchmarking and processes analysis.
- Assembles and summarizes data to structure sophisticated reports on financial status and risks.
- Conducts business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develops forecast models.
- Assists with the preparation of the operating budget (revenue and expense components).
- Tracks and determines financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts.
- Records fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions in the accounting system. Calculates depreciation for all fixed assets. Reconciles the balance in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the summary level account in General Ledger.
- Tracks company expenditures for fixed assets in comparison to the capital budget and management authorizations.
- Assists and supports in the preparation of personal property tax returns.
- Prepares audit schedules related to fixed assets, and assists auditors in their inquiries.
- Reconciles transactions by comparing and correcting data.
- Assists in compensation analysis. Identifies variances and ensures the maintenance and accuracy of the payroll interface.
- Plays an active role in cash management functions. Gathers and analyzes data, develops reports and charts and submits as necessary.
Experience with statistical analysis and statistical processes. Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, MS Office and financial software applications. Strong presentation, reporting and communication skills. Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices. Must have an advanced working knowledge of Excel. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical skills required to work with a variety of financial data.
Minimum Education
- High School or GED
- 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline.
- 3 years' experience of proven work experience as a Financial Analyst or similar role.

Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Work Environment
- Hybrid - Regular in-office presence with some flexibility for work-from-home
