The Human Resources Coordinator joins a forward-thinking HR team, providing professional human resources services and consultation for all Share Our Strength employees. The Coordinator's scope of work is largely administrative applied across HR process and policy areas including benefits administration, recruitment, new hire onboarding, human resources compliance, policy development and administration, learning and development, and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives. The ideal candidate will have exceptional eye for detail, experience in generating and maintaining reports in data systems, ease pivoting between administrative and personnel tasks, and ability to manage data, reconciliations, calendars, and optimizing the employee experience.

This position is based in Washington, DC and will require the candidate to be local to the Washington, DC area. This role is a hybrid position but requires a consistent presence in Headquarters (2 days per week). This position offers a range of $55K-$58K. Exact compensation within the stated salary range may vary based on skills, experience, and internal equity.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Routes employee HR related inquiries to the appropriate HR Business Partner.
  • Process new hire paperwork in HR information system, create new hire correspondence, and coordinate/schedule new hire orientations for team members.
  • Maintain HR department and employee files.
  • Provide scheduling support to Chief People Officer and HR team as needed
  • Process monthly invoices as received.
  • Provide support to Benefits Manager in benefits administration, including enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting, departmental reporting
  • Maintain a variety of periodic reports or queries utilizing appropriate reporting tools as requested.
  • Assist Sr Recruiter with recruitment processes including, but not limited to posting positions on employment job boards, generating offer letters, requesting and completing reference checks, coordinating on-boarding of new hires with other departments and coordinating background checks for all new hires, as needed.
  • Assist HRBP with coordinating the schedule of internal ("Cookbook") trainings and trainings with external vendors.
  • Support HRBP with the organizations' internship program to include recruitment, program implementation, intern support and guidance, and measurement of program results.
  • Maintain new hire paperwork for AmeriCorps staff.
  • Create new hire welcome packets and branded gear mailings and facilitate timely mailing of items to staff as needed.
  • Assist HRBP with coordination of employee engagement activities.
  • Collaborate with HR to maintain compliance with federal and state employment regulations.
  • Enter and maintain employee information HRIS system.
  • Coordinate and work with HRBP to manage the Buddy Program ("PEARS") including connecting new hires and planning quarterly events.
  • Partner with colleagues to support Share Our Strength's work to be a diverse and inclusive organization, and ensuring those values are embedded in the organization and throughout our work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1-2 years of human resources/administrative experience. Bachelor's degree is not required, but is a plus.
  • Strong skills in MS Office suite; experience with an HRIS system is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and understanding of HR processes regarding onboarding and records compliance is a plus.
  • Proven interest in learning more about and growing within the HR field.
  • Proven ability to excel working independently and as part of a (virtual, hybrid, in-person) team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and very strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion and sound judgment.
  • Clear and effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Highly effective within a fluid, entrepreneurial environment, including a demonstrated ability to initiate, organize, and prioritize multiple projects and work independently.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize tasks and projects, and handle challenging situations with poise and professionalism.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship management skills, including the ability to identify and work through challenges, underscored by strong judgment and emotional intelligence.
  • Interest in food justice, anti-hunger, and/or anti-poverty issues.
