Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Obtain, verify, consolidate, and analyze financial data
  • Prepare and input journal entries
  • Prepare audit work papers for assigned areas of responsibility
  • Assist with Gaming, External, and Tax audits
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned
  • Prepare and file Tax Returns as required
  • Assist in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls. Follow through with monitoring of same.
  • Assist Controller with preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Monitor and process payables and receivables related to business with other tracks, horse owners, Racing Commission, and Horsemen's Association
  • Assist in special projects
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Business or Accounting from an accredited four-year college or university preferred
  • Previous experience in general ledger accounting experience
  • Intermediate Excel Skills
  • Knowledge of Accounting Software, Peachtree/Sage 50 preferred.
  • Strong accounting, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with all staff levels throughout the company
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment and prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal guidance and supervision
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Successful candidate must be able to pass New Mexico Gaming Control Board background check and obtain NMGCG and Racing Commission licenses.
  • Must be 21 years of age
