Position Overview:

The UNM Medical Group Locum Tenens is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access in New Mexico's rural and underserved communities. We prioritize the recruitment of high-quality professionals to provide essential services at reasonable rates. We are in search of a meticulous and driven individual to become part of our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of accounting fundamentals, including accruals and month-end closing procedures. Responsibilities will include preparing and analyzing aging reports and assisting in the collections process. Proficiency in financial statement interpretation is crucial, as the role involves reclassifying and allocating expenses across various entities.

Essential Qualifications for a Senior Accounting Technician:

A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience is required. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be necessary upon selection.

Key Responsibilities of a Senior Accounting Technician:

  1. Initiates expenditure documentation for approval and ensures compliance with organizational purchasing standards and accounting protocols.
  2. Develops routine spreadsheet applications, prepares financial data for entry into finance and subsidiary systems, and generates reports from these systems.
  3. Handles regularly scheduled and special billings, maintains accurate records, investigates and resolves issues, and addresses inquiries.
  4. Reviews and processes reimbursements for approval, ensuring all necessary supporting documentation is provided. Investigates discrepancies and collaborates with employees and department managers for resolution.
  5. Analyzes, reconciles, balances, and maintains accounting records; creates specialized financial reports as needed.
  6. May oversee and monitor data processing batches, including suspense control, cash counts, and balancing activities.
  7. May supervise and/or guide lower-graded staff and/or student employees.
  8. Performs various job-related tasks as assigned.
