Position Overview

The UNM Medical Group, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accounting Technician to support our Locum Tenens Rural division. This role is a full-time day shift position. Candidates must have a permanent address in New Mexico or be willing to relocate.

Salary Range: Minimum $38,916 - Midpoint $48,651*

*Compensation is based on total relevant experience.

Role Summary:

The UNM Medical Group Locum Tenens is dedicated to enhancing healthcare access in New Mexico's rural and underserved communities. We prioritize the recruitment of high-quality professionals to deliver essential services at reasonable costs. We are looking for a meticulous and driven individual to join our finance department. The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of accounting principles, including accruals and month-end closing procedures. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing aging reports and facilitating the collections process. Proficiency in interpreting financial statements is crucial, as the role involves reclassifying and allocating expenses across various entities.

Essential Qualifications for a Senior Accounting Technician:

A high school diploma or GED with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be necessary upon selection.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Initiate expenditure documents for approval, ensuring compliance with organizational purchasing policies and standard accounting practices.
  2. Develop routine spreadsheet applications, prepare financial data for input into finance and subsidiary systems, and generate reports from these systems.
  3. Prepare regular and special billings, maintain records, investigate and resolve issues, and respond to inquiries.
  4. Review and initiate reimbursements for approval, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided. Investigate discrepancies and coordinate resolutions with employees and department managers.
  5. Analyze, reconcile, balance, and maintain accounting records; create specialized financial reports.
  6. May oversee and monitor data processing batches, including suspense control, cash counts, and balancing.
  7. May supervise and/or lead junior staff and/or student employees.
  8. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
