Seattle, United States Compose.ly Full time
About Compose.ly

We are an industry-leading SEO and content marketing agency that delivers measurable results through SEO insights and the creation of blog content, white papers, case studies, landing pages, and more.

Founded in 2017, Compose.ly was born from a team of entrepreneurs and content marketing experts with a proven track record of building successful brands. Compose.ly is a rare thing - a growing, profitable startup that has yet to take any outside investors. We've built this business through grit, hard work, and smart decision-making. We're organized, experienced, and in growth mode, and we are looking for fellow entrepreneurs to join our team.

Job Overview

Compose.ly is seeking an experienced, entrepreneurial-minded Director of Account Management to manage, mentor, and grow our Account Management team. This is an executive position and reports directly to the CEO.

Our Account Management team serves as the front line and main point of contact for our portfolio of clients, ranging from small startups to notable enterprise logos. We help our clients execute their SEO and content marketing strategies through a consultative and value-added approach. Our clients' success is our success.

As Account Director, you will own the strategy and direction of the department and set the standard for account managers. You will work cross-collaboratively with fellow department leaders to adjust where necessary and ensure the customer is at the center of the company's decision-making. You love mentoring and inspiring a team - leading by example by getting on calls and getting in the weeds of an account to drive success. You know how to lead your team to perform discovery, build lasting client relationships, identify opportunities, and suss out issues or discontent. You are organized, process-oriented, and love implementing new strategies and tactics. The right candidate will be obsessed with increasing retention, minimizing churn, and delighting the customer. You'll love waking up everyday thinking about Compose.ly's clients and building a team of hungry, dedicated account managers

If you enjoy owning a department and its results, driving improvements, collaborating with hard-working, talented team members, and growing a portfolio of reputable logos, this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Work with your team to cultivate strong, long-lasting relationships with clients by understanding their business objectives, industry landscape, and competitive challenges. Act as a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and insights to drive client satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Drive collaboration with clients to develop comprehensive marketing strategies that align with their goals and objectives. Collaborate with the Director of SEO at Compose.ly to identify opportunities to drive growth and success for our clients.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to Account Management staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment. Delegate tasks, set clear objectives, and provide ongoing feedback and support to ensure team success and professional development.
  • Oversee the end-to-end execution of SEO and content marketing campaigns for our clients, ensuring all deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Coordinate with internal teams and the client to create an environment where innovative creative ideas can thrive.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Delivery to hone the service offering and suggest new services that will retain clients.
  • Manage team quotas, expansion/contraction forecasts, and departmental reporting/dashboards.
  • Client growth potential: Identify and pursue opportunities for organic growth within existing client accounts. Proactively seek out new business opportunities, develop compelling pitches, and participate in presentations to win new clients and expand the agency's client base.
WHO ARE YOU:
  • 7+ years of experience in client services/account management with an agency, marketing company, or client-side marketing department. At least 3 years must have been at an agency and in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully managing client relationships and driving business growth.
  • Leadership experience, with a proven ability to mentor junior staff and motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate client objectives into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas and influence key stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, start-up-like environment.
  • Curiosity and/or passion for marketing, content, and search engine optimization (SEO) with a desire to stay up to date on the latest trends and competitive landscape.
Benefits

Joining a startup doesn't mean you will sacrifice benefits. We offer the opportunity to work with smart and collaborative team members, with a huge opportunity for upward mobility. We offer:
  • Great medical, dental, and vision plans
  • Life & disability
  • 401k retirement plan
  • Unlimited PTO and 13 paid holidays
