is searching for a strong leader who thrives in a challenging fast paced environment while leading multiple teams and operations.

As the

Fleet Shop Supervisor III,

you will be responsible for the supervision of a variety of daily operations and positions including Light and Heavy Duty Mechanics, Equipment Service Maintenance Specialists, Maintenance Planner Schedulers and Parts and Materials Inventory Purchasing Specialists.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing work unit goals, objectives, and programs, developing and monitoring budgets and human resources for multiple work units. Additionally, this position will assist the Operations Section Manager in leading the Operations section including acting on their behalf when needed.

SCOPE OF JOB DUTIES:

The successful candidate, at a minimum, will demonstrate skill or ability to:

Develop, plan, organize, implement, and direct the annual programs and objectives for multiple work units comprised of trades employees. Develop, implement, administer, and monitor annual budgets for multiple work units. Provide guidance and direction to subordinate supervisors and support staff concerning the most complex and/or sensitive issues/problems. Provide guidance and direction in making work quality, customer service and/or employee satisfaction improvements. Identify and develop staffing requirements; delegate responsibilities and authority to subordinate supervisors; conduct employee performance evaluations of all multiple work unit supervisors and support staff; and make hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions. Identify and develop physical requirements for assigned work units; establish objectives and priorities; and approve material and equipment purchases. Develop and implement policies and procedures pertaining to operations for multiple work units. Implement and provide direction for multiple work unit safety and training programs. Administer all union contracts. Conduct multiple work unit employee discipline, grievance response and conflict resolution activities. Oversee routine and preventive maintenance programs and procedures as well as capital and operating project completion. Direct and control the mobilization of King County trades employees in emergency circumstances. Act on behalf of the Operations Section Manager as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO:

Have a strong background and experience

in leading a team in one or more of these areas: Automotive shops, heavy-duty mechanical/maintenance shops, Field service repair, automotive parts and inventory, and/ or Industrial work environment OR an equivalent background of education and experience. Have experience applying

supervisory principles

and practices in a

represented/union environment , including work planning and performance management, and assigning, coordinating, and supervising work of employees at multiple sites and/or multiple bargaining groups in the same position. Have experience with occupational hazards and

safety precautions

in a shop work environment which includes maintenance shop and transportation. Demonstrate use of good judgment in

dealing with conflict

with a high degree of tact and diplomacy, OR an equivalent background of education and experience. Enjoy

working collaboratively

in a team environment. Willing to pitch in to help other team members. Have

working knowledge

of County, Washington State and federal laws and regulations pertaining to passenger vehicles and construction equipment. Have proactive

time management

skills and successfully complete tasks on time and supporting team members to complete tasks on time. Enjoys juggling multiple competing priorities with tight timelines and efficiently prioritizes work. Have the ability to

effectively respond after hours

to support customers during emergencies and/or natural disasters which could include flooding, snow/ice events, windstorms and earthquakes. Are comfortable using office productivity tools, relational databases, and payroll/financial systems in their daily work.
