Ensure the existence of adequate transmission for company's development projects and track regulatory developments in assigned markets in order to advise the project team in handling transmission-related issues and minimizing potential risks. This position permits telecommuting, but requires travel to company's Chicago, IL headquarters once per month. Responsibilities

Duties: Support transmission interconnection requests across a portfolio of 20+ GW of solar projects, 5+ GW of battery storage projects, and 10+ GW of (early stage) offshore wind projects in coordination with senior management. Perform load flow studies using Power flow modeling and simulation software to determine the transmission takeaway capacity of specific sites the company identifies. Identify constraints and competing generation in proposed project areas, and as appropriate, coordinate findings with the development team and management. Advance technical deliverables, studies and one-line drawings required for placing an interconnection request with the respective regional transmission organization (RTOs) and/or independent system operator (ISOs) and serve as technical coordinator throughout the interconnection process. Participate in conferences and forums to discuss technical concepts and challenges in the area of transmission. Support and coordinate respective design and development activities through the review and implementation of electrical technical concepts, initiation of studies/specifications and oversight/review of third-party study, one-line diagrams and design/cost estimating deliverables. Review all types of interconnection and transmission studies to understand impacts on project cost, schedule and operational characteristics. Develop deep understanding of open access transmission tariffs, and other related tariffs, business practice manuals, transmission and distribution providers, RTOs and/or ISOs, including cost allocation, funding options, queue processing timelines. Write Python code to automate processes for power flow studies. Provide power systems design and support needed at Hecate and review electrical equipment specs for transformers and other electrical equipment utilized at company projects. Develop scopes of work for and overseeing third party consultants' support of transmission interconnection applications. Develop and support initial project layouts and designs for interconnection and general civil and electrical design compliance. Develop CAD skills to perform this work. Qualifications

Master’s degree or its foreign equivalent in electrical engineering. 4 years (48 full months) of full-time post-baccalaureate engineering experience in power industry/renewable energy, including analyzing/evaluating power systems performance. Demonstrable knowledge of: (a) electrical and protection system specifications, requirements, and/or implementation; (b) power system concepts (design, factors, transients, reliability, load flow, stability, short circuit, voltage regulation, transmission losses); (c) industry standards/regulations (IEEE, NESC, NFPA, FERC); and (d) technology (Power flow modeling and simulation software, Python scripting language).
