Position Overview

This role offers a hybrid work structure, allowing you to work in the office for three days while enjoying the flexibility of remote work for two days each week.

Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will leverage your expertise in transmission line engineering, focusing on components such as conductors, hardware, insulation, structures, foundations, and electrical principles to:
  • Design transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 765kV.
  • Conduct structural analysis and design for various types of structures including pole, lattice, framed, and guyed.
  • Execute foundation design tasks.
  • Carry out conductor selection studies, as well as shielding, grounding, and induction analyses.
  • Prepare cost estimates and schedules, and draft specifications for the procurement of transmission line materials and construction services.
  • Specify components for transmission lines.
  • Model transmission lines using PLS-CADD, assess right-of-way requirements, calculate conductor sags, and create transmission line plan and profile drawings.
  • Review submissions from vendors.
Qualifications

Please note: We do not provide sponsorship for work authorization in the U.S. for this role.

Essential Skills and Experience:
  • A degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program is required.
  • Relevant engineering experience, including internships or co-op positions.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in transmission line engineering.
  • Understanding of the practical application of engineering principles, particularly in transmission line engineering.
  • Familiarity with design techniques, tools, and principles necessary for creating technical plans, drawings, and models.
  • Competence in MS Office applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valued but Not Required Skills and Experience:
  • Completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and designation as an Engineer in Training.
  • Experience with software such as PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, or Microstation.
  • Ability to write and provide documentation for engineering calculations.
  • Familiarity with design codes and standards, including NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
