Job Title: Accounting Associate (Union) Grade: Non-Management (25) Division: Finance Reports To: Controller Date: May 2024 FLSA Status: Regular, Full Time
SUMMARY
The Accounting Associate provides support for United Way's finance department, including key tasks supporting accounts receivable, donor pledge processing, and credit card receivables. Additionally, this role provides support for transactions needing escalation and advanced quality assurance.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following, but are not limited to:

TRANSACTION PROCESSING SUPPORT
  • Review and process transactions that have been escalated as needing additional research from the Finance and Pledge Processing Departments.
  • Perform transaction adjustments in primary CRM database to correct errors or changes.
  • Assist in processing of high-complexity or high value transactions.
  • Serve as back up for daily processing of lockbox and electronic pledge and payment streams into CRM database
  • Assist in processing third-party transactions to facilitate strong data integrity while working to resolve complex and non-standard issues related to files received from third-party processors.
  • Prepare monthly statements for donors and corporate partners
  • Serve as back up processor for credit card transactions to facilitate donor payments.
FINANCE QUALITY ASSURANCE
  • Responsible for reviewing and adjusting accounts with credit balances.
  • Participate in monthly and annual closing processes.
  • Perform quality assurance on entered pledge transactions to confirm accuracy.
  • Responsible for reviewing and taking action on finance-related quality assurance dashboards and reports.
  • Review and reconcile general ledger accounts for pledge transactions to reports from CRM on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in tracking and reconciliation of payments received for special events and work with the Resource Development team on facilitating collection and any payment related issues.
  • Monthly reconciliation of CRM deposit register to transaction register to assist with month end closing procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associates degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Two to three years of general accounting experience.
  • Technical skills
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office experience.
    • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
    • Experience with database management systems.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
