Our organization is currently in need of a Youth Specialist. The Youth Specialist plays a critical role in providing a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment for the children in care. This position is responsible for directly engaging with residents, guiding their daily activities, and promoting their emotional, social, and physical well-being. The Youth Specialist works collaboratively with other team members to implement individualized treatment plans, enforce rules, regulations, policies, and procedures while creating a positive and enriching living experience for the residents. This position is physically demanding and requires great communication skills.

**Primary Responsibilities**:

- **Direct Care and Support**:

- Establish positive and respectful relationships with residents to promote trust and emotional well-being.
- Supervise and assist residents in daily activities, including meals, hygiene routines, and recreational activities.
- Create and maintain a structured and predictable environment that fosters routine and consistency for residents.
- Promote and assist with facility cleanliness and report maintenance issues or needed repairs to management.
- Transport residents to appointments, school, and other meetings as needed.
- **Behavioral Support and Guidance**:

- Implement behavior management strategies in alignment with individualized care plans.
- Utilize trauma-informed approaches to address challenging behaviors and provide emotional support.
- Encourage and model appropriate social interactions, conflict resolution, and coping skills.
- **Individualized Care Plans**:

- Collaborate with the treatment team to implement individualized care plans for each resident.
- Monitor and document residents' progress and behavior, adjusting care plans as needed.
- Participate in team meetings to provide insights into resident progress and challenges.
- **Safety and Security**:

- Always ensure the physical safety and security of residents; conduct search of residents, living quarters, property, and transportation vehicles for contraband.
- Monitor the facility and surroundings for any potential safety concerns or unauthorized access.
- Implement emergency protocols and drills to prepare for crisis situations.
- Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to residents in the event of injury, illness, or trauma.
- Complete a minimum of 40-hours of _**in-service**_ training on childcare services (not including first aid and orientation) annually
- **Communication and Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate and thorough records of resident activities, behaviors, and all incidents daily.
- Document observations and interventions in a timely and detailed manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members, including counselors, social workers, and administrators.
- **Positive Role Modeling**:

- Model appropriate behaviors, attitudes, and communication skills for residents to emulate.
- Encourage residents to engage in positive activities and interests that promote personal growth and development.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Must be 21 years of age.
- High school diploma or its equivalent required.
- Experience working with at-risk youth, preferably in a residential treatment or group home setting.
- Knowledge of child development, trauma-informed care, and behavioral management techniques.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with residents and team members.
- Ability to remain calm, patient, and composed in challenging situations.
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Physical and emotional resilience to handle the demands of the role.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment).
- Completion of background checks and training as required by state regulations.

**Preferred Qualifications**
- College level coursework in behavioral sciences social work, psychology, or related field preferred.
- Valid state driver’s license
- Flexible with scheduling with the ability to work mandatory overtime or up to 16 hours within a 24-hour period, if necessary
- Available for emergency calls 24/7 as this is a 24-hour facility.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 24 - 32 per week
