Assists with the day-to-day operations in the Low Demand Drop-In Center, OZ Works programs, Outreach, Peer Support and Walk-Ins.

Maintains order, cleanliness, and daily flow of the Engagement Programs. Monitors use of the general use areas, meeting spaces, gathering spaces, food prep areas, communal computers and storage areas.

Provides coverage and support to staff where deficits are identified.

Provides youth with support and guidance

Effectively communicates with other team members and with supervisor to ensure coverage needs for daily service delivery as well as planned/impromptu activities.

Document events as needed, prepares and maintains accurate records like Unusual Incident Reports (UIR), time sheets and other forms of documentation that may be required for program compliance by the agency.

Collaborates with the security guards to ensure that all youth waiting in the lobby for appointments or walk-ins are properly served according to program guidelines.

Monitors the youth that access and use of the Engagement programs areas such as lab, meeting rooms, shower, lockers and laundry facilities. Instructs youth during drills and real emergencies according to the organization's Emergency Procedures.

Links, promotes and engage youth to enhance well-being, social connectivity and community connections by providing transportation to appointments and support in daily living activities that affect the youth's ability to manage their basic needs and adult life demands. Link client to other providers as needed.

Facilitates life enrichment activities, artistic expression and leisure activities per program schedule providing transportation as needed and appropriate. Activities provide rehabilitation and support for the youth promoting social and interpersonal skills, to increase youth ability to enhance their personal relationships, support network, community awareness, coping skills, and effective functioning in the youth's environment including home, work and school. Skills development and activities may include: following a schedule, events on and offsite, educational and entertaining activities on and offsite, visits to colleges and vocational centers, public transportation, emergency, safety and housing search as needed and appropriate.


Notifies supervisors of potential or real emergencies including criminal activities, high risk behavior, mental health emergencies, health emergencies or other activities that impact safety, security, and public relations, where applicable.

Provide timely documentation of all paperwork in CareLogic and general notes for the client's chart per Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (ODMHAS) standards and meets a minimum of 1 hour of productivity/day, according to standards set by Senior Management by providing TBS, PSR, CPST individual and group services dependent upon education and licensure, as appropriate. Ensuring clinical services are completed within 72 hours per agency requirement.

Support, guide and reinforce the client's ability to learn coping skills and problem solve situations, while offering a safe place for the skills to be practiced. Provides an environment that is flexible and rich with opportunities and feedback from caring staff. Utilize the model when managing youth behaviors, deescalating conflicts and communicating general aspects of the OZ Works services. Meet client where they are in the provision of services utilizing the Stages of Change Model.


It is the policy of Daybreak to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all license requirements and that all employees are fit for duty. Once a conditional offer of employment has been given, Daybreak requires that all prospective employees sign a background check release form and pass pre-employment testing before a start date may be given.

Background Check

Daybreak is required by State of Ohio law to perform a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting, of eligible applicants. In addition to the fingerprints, Daybreak requires the following additional background checks.

  • Federal Exclusion databases including:
    • National Sex Offender Registry
    • Office Inspector General (OIG)
    • Nurse Aide Registry
    • SAM
    • of Developmental Disabilities (DODD)
  • Motor Vehicle Report

Pre-employment Testing

The following pre-employment tests will be conducted at Daybreak's expense. Tests include:

  • A tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray (by a physician of Daybreak's choosing)
  • A urine drug screening (by a testing facility of Daybreak's choosing)

Should the pre-employment reviews indicate that the prospective employee does not meet the employment requirements, Daybreak has the option of either not hiring the person or postponing employment until the condition prohibiting employment has been removed.

If the background or pre-employment checks contain information that the applicant has committed, been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to any criminal offense, unless the charge was a minor misdemeanor not involving violence or a sexual offense at least 5 years old, or if the applicant refuses to submit fingerprints for a criminal background check, the conditional offer of employment will be withdrawn immediately.

Pursuant to SB 38 (child-serving agency), if it is determined that the applicant has committed one of the disqualifying events listed on the attached Ohio Revised Code Disqualifier sheet may prevent employment at Daybreak.
