Medical Front Desk Assistant

Medical office currently seeking Medical Support Assistant to support a busy Podiatry office in Olympia Fields Illinois. This position directly supports the patient flow by, rescheduling appointments, collecting signatures on patient documents, scanning documents into EHR for billing, generating referrals, faxing and assisting with administrative duties as well as the medical staff when needed.We are seeking someone with medical office/medical assistant experience.

**Education**
- **High school diploma or GED** _(required)_

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Previous experience in medical office preferred but not mandatory
- Understanding of medical referrals
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Must be customer service oriented
- Good typing and computer skills
- Ability to work in close contact with patients and co-workers in a caring, professional and competent manner
- Must be able to multitask and handle high volume and stressful environment
- Must be detailed oriented and able to maintain a high level of accuracy in data entry
- Pleasant phone skills

**Full job description**:

- Generating referrals through referral system
- Communicate with patients to set appointments and provide necessary instructions
- Staff explains general consent for treatment forms to the patient, obtains necessary signatures and witnesses name. Explains and distributes patient education documents
- Reschedule appointments using approved scheduling guidelines
- Scan and index documents into the EHR; ensure that necessary documents, lab results, etc. are available in advance of patient visits
- Assist coworkers as needed to assure smooth office operation and delivery of excellent service through teamwork
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ensure all correspondence is scanned and/or filed in timely manner
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records
- Verify patient insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries regarding appointments and scheduling

- **$15 - $18 an hour based on experience and credentials**
