Overview:
Manually count traffic at major traffic intersections and/or parking facilities in assigned region.

**Responsibilities**:
**Leadership and Direction**

**At the Operational and Company Level**

**Do the Work**
- Perform manual traffic volume counts at major traffic intersections including a breakdown of lane usage according to the selected turn patterns of drivers, and/or conducting parking utilization observations.
- Operate a digital counting device for extended periods of time.
- Assist the Senior Traffic Technician and the Project Manager with the transfer of data from the digital counting device to the computer.
- Return data and equipment to Senior Traffic Technician in a timely manner to maintain project schedules.

Qualifications:

- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent commensurate experience required.
- Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
- Entry level position, no previous industry experience required.
- Previous experience with use of tally sheets a plus.
- Working knowledge of field safety to include occupational hazards, safety precautions, and safety regulations related to traffic and traffic patterns.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Physical Demands and Working Environment:

- Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.
- Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.
- Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.
- Partially indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.
- Mobility around an office environment.
- Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
- Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.
- Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
