- The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
- The Bureau of Engineering Design & Construction (BEDC) currently has a portfolio of capital projects valued at $23.8B, and another $10.5B projected over the next 10-year commitment plan. The projects BEDC implements allows DEP as a whole to continue to operate and maintain an exemplary water supply system.
- Our Wastewater Capital Program (WWCP) staff oversees the design and construction of all major capital projects for the Bureau of Wastewater Treatment (BWT). Current projects include upgrades for sustainability, resiliency, and state of good repair improvements (e.g. main sewage pump system upgrades, solids handling facility upgrades, power system improvements, combined sewer overflow abatement projects and pump station rehabilitation.) WWCP is a team of project managers and engineers who deliver projects with an emphasis on environmental health and safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client service.PREFERRED SKILLS- Project Management of large capital contracts
- Critical thinking and effective independent data analysis

- Understanding of codes and standards
- This position may require operation of a motor vehicle to perform site visits, equipment testing, inspections, and to attend meetings with project stakeholders. Possession of a valid NYS driver’s license may be required for this job assignment
