Job Summary:

- Under the direction of the Deputy Associate Superintendent, this position oversees the Certification unit: manages staff, day to day operations, ensures that Board rule is implemented for certificates, assists the Investigative Unit at the State Board of Education (SBE), local education agencies (LEAs), and institutes of higher education (IHEs)/organizations when necessary.
- This position also oversees the Educator Preparation Program (EPP) unit including managing specialists who work with IHEs, organizations and LEAs with their EPPs to become SBE approved and follow Board rule requirements.
- This position serves as a liaison between the Certification unit and Ed Prep Program unit to ensure compliance and accountability
- Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

Job Duties:

- Supervise and direct the daily operations of the Certification unit
- Supervise, train, and evaluate personnel in the Certification unit responsible for providing direct services to applicants
- Supervise certification services and provide technical assistance statewide
- Provide training and support for certification staff on effective and solutions driven customer service techniques
- Resolve customer service questions and complaints received by the Certification Unit. Ensure compliance with SBE rule
- Supervise and direct the daily operations of the Educator Prep Program unit
- Supervise, train, and evaluate personnel in the Educator Prep Program unit responsible for assisting IHEs/Orgs in or seeking SBE approval
- Supervise EPP services and provide technical assistance statewide and to organizations
- Ensure compliance and accountability according to SBE rule
- Collaborate with other Student Achievement and Educator Excellence Directors to ensure the efficient operation of the Certification and Educator Preparation Program Unit
- Monitor and oversee the financial operations of the Certification Unit
