Communications and Events Manager

Job Overview:
**Duties**:
1. Identify and assist our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization.
2. Provides timely recognition to all donors.
3. Develop, plan, administer and execute the annual signature fundraising and events plan with the goal of raising $100,000 annually.
4. Regularly and timely maintains all WALC affiliated websites.
5. Maintain agency calendar of events.
6. Create a social media strategy, maintain and manage all social media accounts with regular updates and a goal of gaining more visibility for our organization.
7. Assist the volunteer coordinator with a minimum of two annual volunteer appreciation events.
8. Compose and publish a regularly scheduled agency newsletter and send to stakeholders.
9. Assist in gathering learner and tutor success stories and pictures and post on websites, social media and/or other written communications.
10. Research, generate and recommend new ideas and sources of revenue to the Executive Director.
11. Regularly report on program and event progress to Executive Director and the Board of Directors.
12. Oversee the development budget and monitor and manage expenditures.
13. Identify and build relationships with new and prospective donors.
14. Maintains understanding of Donor Management system and utilizes it as appropriate to role.
15. Make direct, face-to-face solicitations.
16. Publicize and promote WALC and its programs by participating in presentations, outreach, public events and other community activities.
17. Develop annual strategic plan for communications and events.
18. Draft and send press releases for appropriate WALC topics and events.
19. Draft promotional materials such as flyers, brochures, graphics and posters for the organization.
20. Keep informed of trends and issues in the field of literacy and events planning.
21. Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner.
**Experience**:
- This is a general description which covers the minimum qualifications:_
1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, not required.
2. Computer proficiency and experience working with Microsoft Office products including Word and Excel.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
4. Must have strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Experience and understanding of websites and social media.
6. Previous experience in Event Planning preferred.

Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
