**Job Relationship**:The Return to Home Coordinator (RTC) reports to the Assistant Director of Community Resources. Works closely with the Keeping Pets with Families and Resource Coordinators along with managers from all departments, shelter staff and volunteers.

**Responsibilities**:

- Ensures all incoming lost animals have several good photos in BARCS’ database, website, social media sites, and Petco Love Lost database immediately upon intake.
- Manages the Petco Love Lost database (backend) and compares lost reports with shelter population daily to double check for matches. When matches are found, the RTC works to reach an owner immediately.
- Acts as liaison between finders and owners to keep animals out of the shelter.
- Assists owners with implementing steps to find their lost pets and assists finders as needed; such as creating a flyer, entering pets into Petco Love Lost database, and educating on lost and found solutions.
- Assist with Lost Pet walk throughs to help find their pets.
- Maintains accurate and timely Lost and Found Board for staff and volunteers to assist in reunifications of in-house animals.
- Recruits volunteer support to assist in pet reunification and prevention strategies.
- Further investigates all Animal Control intakes for possible return to owner; including evictions, housefires, strays, impoundments, owner surrenders etc and then follows through with owner.
- Regular monitors and assists with fast tracking outcomes for animals that can return home.
- Represents BARCS on Lost and Found pages.
- Plans and executes Lost Pet Prevention events and education with KPWF Coordinator.
- Follows up with owners/finders to see if animals have been found and removes lost/found reports as appropriate.
- Assists with ID tracking for animals with microchips and other identification.
- Effectively communicates BARCS policies ensuring there are no unnecessary barriers to returning to home.
- Coordinates with marketing/communications personnel to schedule messaging in support of pet identification, recovery strategies and prevention strategies.
- Promotes usage of Petco Love Lost database with other shelters and the community.
- Collects and analyzes data for key performance indicators related to pet reunification and loss prevention.
- Makes recommendations to strengthen lost and found protocols and policies.
- Ensures all staff are implementing lost and found strategies in their daily work as appropriate.
- Assists with morning animal drop offs for spay/neuter services.
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:

- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate.
- Experience in animal welfare is preferred but not required.
- Ability to exercise good judgment when dealing with confidential information.
- Demonstrates experience in customer service and working with sensitive issues.
- Able to perform physical work; bending, lifting, walking and standing for up to 10 hours a day.
- Must demonstrate being efficient and effective in math, writing, and data entry.
- Ability to modify work schedule to meet BARCS operational needs.
- Possess a level of comfort with animals who have a variety of behavioral or medical needs.
- Ability to be a self-starter, facilitator, organizer and innovator.

**Working Conditions**:
Work is performed in an animal shelter that operates seven days a week, with exposure to conditions such as dust, wetness, odors, high noise levels, etc. Work requires physical exertion such as, but not limited to, standing most of the day, bending, and lifting boxes with inventory of varying weights. In this position, there is limited exposure to dogs, cats, and small pets. There is potential exposure to: sharp objects, cleaning agents, animal waste, zoonotic diseases, and potentially hazardous conditions including the risk of animal scratches and bites. There is also exposure to friendly, loving animals in need of your affection.

Pay: $16.00 - $17.90 per hour
