**Description**

**GENERAL DESCRIPTION**: Perform routine (journey-level) technical and analytical research work for Motor Carrier Bureau. Work involves collecting, processing, and disseminating information between local, state, and federal jurisdictions. Maintain the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Data Quality System (DataQs) Challenges for Texas. Maintain, compile, process, and respond to all Open Records requests for the Motor Carrier Bureau. Enter, retrieve, and query databases in conducting legal research. Work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Applicants must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1. Maintain the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Data Quality System Challenges for Texas (FMCSA); prepare and disseminate information as necessary.

2. Research, analyze and update information in various databases; research discrepancies and process in applicable systems and notify responsible parties of investigative results. Redact confidential Information from Motor Carrier Bureau records.

3. Review Carrier profile system for corresponding Carrier information.

4. Excise sensitive and confidential information on inspection reports and investigations to verify accuracy.

5. Serve as inventory control manager responsible for material management, acquisition, and distribution of inventory items; assist with payroll actions, pay docks, and Act-11’s.

6. Respond to inquiries and interpret rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

7. Assist with time keeping, employee documentation, and file maintenance.

8. Maintain, compile, and process all Open Records requests for Motor Carriers, Law Firms, General Public, Records Management Companies, other Law Enforcement Agencies, Department employees and officials.

9. Process correspondence to Motor Carriers, Law Firms, General Public, Records Management Companies, other Law Enforcement Agencies, Department employees and officials. Review and prepare notarized documents for administrative approval.

10. Research, process and prepare certified documents regarding United States District Court subpoenas for administrative approval. Prepare and review records with the Motor Carrier Bureau Attorney if additional legal action Is required. Maintain, compile, and submit a Monthly Summary report to the Office of General Counsel with the total number of Open Records request(s) and amount of money received for MCB records requests.

11. Compile and submit payment invoice(s) to the requestor for Motor Carrier Bureau records. Receive, generate, and maintain credit card payment from requestor when paying over the phone. Research, compile, maintain, and submit correspondence to the Courts where MCB has received payments from motor carriers and other citizens regarding a citation/ticket they received.

12. May train others.

13. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.

14. Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

**GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education****:

- High School Diploma/equivalent.

**Experience** **- Minimum of two (2) years’ progressively responsible work experience with a personal computer with Microsoft Office software and extensive data and internet research.

**Substitution Note**: Additional work experience of the type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis.

**Regulatory Knowledge** - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures.

**Technology** **- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems.

**Interpersonal Skills** - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers. Must demonstrate DPS’ core
