ABOUT US

Congregation Rodeph Sholom (CRS) is a large, dynamic Reform synagogue at the heart of Manhattan’s Upper West Side and has a strong 180-year history. We are a community for all who enter our doors and our members represent the vibrant diversity of New York’s Jewish landscape. Multi-generational families, millennials, interfaith families, lifelong New Yorkers, those new to the city, folks pursuing conversion, and those exploring Judaism for the first time have all found a home at CRS. Union Field Cemetery is located on sprawling 63 acres in Ridgewood, Queens on the Brooklyn/Queens border.

ABOUT YOU

CRS is looking for an extremely organized and detail-oriented administrator who can effectively manage multiple priorities. You enjoy learning new technology, software, and databases - you have experience with data entry and data management. Since this position communicates on the phone and in person with congregants and families, you are courteous, professional, and helpful - ready to assist without being asked. You are comfortable providing administrative support to families, family service associates (FSAs), managers, and cemetery grounds personnel.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works full-time and in-person Sunday - Thursday from 9am to 4pm at the Ridgewood location. All of our team members must be flexible and able to adapt to short
- and long-term shifts in their job duties.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Becoming proficient in our software and database - entering, retrieving, and analyzing data.
- Answering telephone questions and concerns courteously.
- Ordering and inventorying office supplies.
- Assisting with the tracking and submission of all memorialization products to ensure accurate records.
- Process installation information upon delivery of memorials.
- Assist with maintaining and scheduling cemetery services.
- Providing administrative support for FSAs and managers regarding cemetery issues, including the ongoing updating of the cemetery database.
- Knowing and understanding cemetery rules and regulations of cemetery markers is critical.
- Be the “go to” person on various cemetery questions/problems when cemetery property manager is not available.
- Ability to work independently on projects.
- Maintain accurate and organized records for property files, lot cards, interment cards, etc.
- Accurately enter cemetery contracts and interments into the cemetery database on a timely basis.
- Prepare and balance daily banking deposits.
- Submit family maintenance requests or work orders to the ground crew.
- Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of one year of similar or related experience.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to relate to a variety of people.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively in order to organize and prioritize workload.
- Ability to work under time constraints and conform to established schedules and deadlines.
- Speaking English is required.
- Speaking Spanish is a plus, not required.
- Speaking Russian is a plus, not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to navigate a physically active position during office hours that includes standing, bending, and carrying and lifting items up to 35 pounds.

- $53,000-$55,000; commensurate with experience.
