The Quality Control (QC) Specialist has primary ownership of QC process components related to the QC's origination audits. The Specialist is also responsible for the QC Loan Committee process.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- On a monthly basis, prepare and submit materials related to proposed rescissions, cancellations, and exceptions to Loan Committee and manage the process to carry out the decisions of the Committee for each loan.
- Contribute to the capacity planning process by identifying the hours needed for QC auditors to complete file reviews and comparing them to their scheduled work hours. Analyze the results to forecast overtime needs.
- Track and monitor QC rush/expedited requests at the loan level against deadlines.
- Generate monthly origination QC audit samples in accordance with policy requirements and for targeted reviews in consultation with internal stakeholders. For targeted reviews, provide reasoning to auditors for their consideration during file review.
- Request files, share findings, monitor responses, and provide reminders and past-due notices to customers. When necessary to resolve the most consequential findings, reach out to customers by phone. Engage with Operations and Sales staff as necessary when assistance is needed with unresponsive customers.
- Field incoming questions and requests from customers and National MI Operations and Sales staff, determine the appropriate response, and respond in a timely manner.
- Order appraisal review products and inform auditors upon receipt.
- Monitor incoming correspondence from lenders on files with preliminary findings and alert the applicable QC auditor of receipt of new documents.
- Develop ad-hoc reporting using the QC system reporting tool and Microsoft Excel for individual Master Policy Holder requests.
- When reviews are concluded, complete handoffs to IT (for loan level updates regarding rescission relief) and Servicing (for cancellations and rescissions).
- Serve as back-up to the Quality Control Analyst, when needed.
- Explain QC processes to Sales and Operations employees.
- Maintain QC department Procedures Manual content related to responsibilities.
- Monitor the completeness and accuracy of Salesforce data used for QC audit correspondence. Reach out to National MI Operations and Sales when updates are necessary.
- Monitor Appraisal Review and Reverification records to ensure compliance with QC department records retention procedures.
- Notify Operations and Sales members of preliminary and final Severe audit findings before communications are sent to lenders.
- Provide Operations with status updates on Severe audit findings sent to lenders (preliminary, updated, and final results).
- Develop ideas for and test implementation of new functionality for the Cogent system.
- Monitor QC inbox for ad hoc requests and either complete them or direct to an appropriate party.
- Perform ad hoc responsibilities, as needed.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience. Lending history experience is preferred.
- Highly proficient in MS Office Suite. Experience with reporting tools.
- Ability to understand and interpret mortgage origination, servicing, and loss mitigation policies.
- Strong analytical abilities with ability to organize data into a concise, understandable outcome.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage several priorities simultaneously.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and diagrams, forms, and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to work in fast-paced office environment and be accountable to tight deadlines.

**Base Salary Range**: $77,000 - $98,000/year
