BCAUSEICAN has a mission to provide programs and services to underserved communities. The leading program is the BCAUSEICANCODE curriculum, which provides the instruction of coding concepts, terminology and skills to begin the art of coding for grades K-12. We currently focus on schools in Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia (the DMV as it is known to locals).

We currently offer our classes as part of after-school enrichment programming. Experience teaching students K-12 is desired and some coding experience is preferred. These classes teach Scratch, a game-like program that helps students learn the basics of block-based coding.

**The Opportunity**

Reporting directly to the Director of Organizational Performance, the Development & Communications Manager is a key member of the BCIC development team working to ensure BCIC’s financial long-term sustainability. This position reports to Director of Organizational Performance and assists the Executive Director with ongoing development tasks that enhance the organization’s ability to identify and cultivate potential supporters and secure contributions and grants. This position offers the opportunity to become deeply engaged with the fundamental strategic processes and implementation of fund development for a growing, legacy organization with an increasing community impact and social justice at its core.

This is a hybrid role with 80% remote and 20% in-person work. Some travel is required to PGCPS schools and events.

**Key Roles and Responsibilities**:
**Grant Compliance**:

- In conjunction with the Grants Coordinator: _
- Ensure that the monthly program reports are submitted on-time with stated outcomes achieved.
- Partner with the Director of Organizational Performance and Finance Manager to ensure that the grant funds are appropriately spent and allocated.
- Engage with the Programs Department to gather metrics and anecdotes that enhance Appeals, requests, and Reports.

**Corporate & Individual Cultivation**:

- In conjunction with the Director of Organizational Performance: _
- Perform individual, institutional, and corporate prospect research to ensure a steady pipeline of potential support.
- Manage all donor communications, including benefits, renewals, and special announcements.
- Manage the creation and implementation of donor campaigns and development of expanded donor/membership benefits and/or impact statements.

**Grant Writing & Fund Development**:

- In conjunction with the Grants Coordinator: _
- Create and implement donor appeals, campaigns, sponsorship packages, grant submissions and report materials.

**Special Events & Donor Engagement**:

- Interact with BCIC donors and process donations and maintain donor database. - Partner with leadership to plan and manage events for the donor cultivation pipeline, membership benefits, and volunteer appreciation.
- Collaborate with the leadership to ensure timely updates to BCIC’s fundraising calendar and donor database for all e-communications and mailings.

**Marketing & Communications**:
In conjunction with the Marketing & Communications Coordinator:

- Manage for the marketing strategy, planning, brand implementation for BCIC. - Develop and deploy social media content.
- Develop and design newsletters, advertisements, sponsorship materials, event invitations etc.
- Proofreading all marketing materials before publication

**QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS**:

- B.A. degree, preferably in arts or education-related field.
- 1 to 2 years’ experience in a nonprofit office; preference given to background in arts, education and/or social justice settings.
- Familiarity with building and stewarding membership programs a plus
- Excellent writing skills, confident speaking skills, and strong sense of graphic design.
- Dedication to accuracy and detail in the creation of high-quality work products.
- Experience in fast-paced work environments; ability to take the initiative.
- Strong team player: able to engage with diverse staff to gather, synthesize and use programmatic and financial information for effective fundraising.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information.
- High level of comfort working with CRM software (experience with Little Green Light a plus).
- Experience with Microsoft Office and direct mail programs such as Constant Contacts.
- Enthusiasm for fundraising and genuine interest in the development field as a career path.
- Interest in the field of arts education and the impact of arts engagement on children.
- Fluency in Spanish a plus.

Pay: $50,000.00 per year
