**Position Overview**

This role provides nutrition education to the population served by the Central Texas Food Bank including CTFB direct clients, Partner Agencies, and Children’s Programs. Within this position, you will be operating both in-house and in the community at our local and regional partners, providing nutrition education and training. This position represents a critical role within the Food Bank to properly address health among food insecure clients by helping those clients to live healthier, more stable, and self-sustaining lives.

**Relationships**

Building and maintaining collaborative and meaningful relationships is a core component of this position. Reporting to the Nutrition Education Manager within the Client Programs and Services area, this position works cohesively with team members. Additionally, this position will also need to nurture strong connections with colleagues on various teams to ensure nutrition education is broadly accessible. Proven and demonstrated professionalism and effective communication skills are necessary for this role.

**Your Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Health Education or related degree program
- 2+ years of experience in Nutrition Education preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency strongly preferred
- Valid food manager certificate or ability to obtain one within 60 days of employment
- A valid government-issued Driver’s License and proof of auto liability insurance
- Experience collaborating with coworkers on projects/tasks and demonstrate strong teamwork skills
- Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of central Texas and its network of services for low-income families is preferred
- Strong moral compass with commitment to improving the lives of those we serve in a dignified environment

**Your Responsibilities**
- Facilitate nutrition education classes and cooking demonstrations that promote healthy lifestyles and obesity prevention through in-person (on-site and in the community) and virtual instruction.
- Completing all necessary preparations for class, including grocery shopping, assembling class materials, and transportation of equipment; Coordinating the food flow process to ensure food distributions as an integral piece of the nutrition education program.
- Meet all scheduled reporting requirements, including timely and accurate submission of monthly nutrition educator report, closed class data and evaluation results for each nutrition education course taught. Maintain daily records of all activities and outreach, utilizing data and client tracking software and spreadsheets. Ensure client confidentiality and HIPAA requirements are upheld
- Creating, testing and analyzing new recipes for Partner Agencies, Food Bank Programs, and class participants that meet the current Dietary Guidelines for Americans requirements.
- Working with the Nutrition Education Manager to train and evaluate interns, train new Nutrition Educators, and to conduct outreach in the community by coordinating new partnerships for nutrition education
- Working with the Nutrition Education Manager to extend training opportunities to volunteers and partner agency staff to build capacity and increase nutrition education opportunities throughout the service area
- Working under the guidance of Nutrition Education Manager to adapt or create class curriculum, evaluations (i.e. pre and posttests), and other class materials to meet the needs of clients and SNAP-Ed requirements.
- Maintaining inventory of all class materials, supplies and incentives and work with the Nutrition Education Manager to inform new orders or replenishment of stock
- Performing weekly ranking of CTFB Inventory using a validated tool that measures the nutritional quality of foods distributed.
