Internship as Community Health Navigators - PT hours, weekly stipend (1099)
The Harlem Strong Coalition is a group of service providers, community-and faith-based organizations, city agencies, and others who will provide Navigators with guidance, program goals and objectives, and resources to support their work, as well as information to better ensure the safety of the community. The specific goals of Harlem Strong are to promote mental health awareness and access to social services, mental health resources and additional resources across the community.
We are looking for Community Health Navigators - trusted members of local communities who share lived experiences with their neighbors and peers. Navigators will receive training in navigating complex systems of care, so that they can serve as a link between clinical and community-based services.
**Requirements**:
Desire to help your community
Be a public health advocate
Comfortable with public speaking
Ability to travel and attend community-led meetings
Emotional intelligence and empathy to support our underserved communities
Duties as a Community Health Navigator (in the field)
- Engage in training to learn how to support consumers’ mental and emotional wellness and economic needs
- Refer consumers to care in the community to support their health, economic and social needs, as needed
- Conduct community outreach to identify Harlemites New Yorkers in need of mental health or other services.
- Deliver Harlem Strong programming to residents of HCCI, consumers at primary care sites, and consumers identified via community outreach
- HS Diploma/GED Required | Proof of COVID Vaccination
- Part-Time positions available
- NYCHA Residents are encouraged to apply
- Work Location: Manhattan Area
**Job Types**: Part-time, Internship
Pay: $500.00 - $2,500.00 per month
Expected hours: 10 - 16 per week
