**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**
- School Guardian
- Oversee dual guardian program including: hiring; documenting training; conducting weapons and equipment inspections; ensuring compliance with the program and legislative requirements
- In case of an active threat event or other life-threatening situation, will utilize firearm possession authority for the protection of students and staff
- Act as liaison between Austin Police Department and Travis County Sheriff's Department to ensure how school guardians will interact with law enforcement during an active shooter event
- General School Safety
- Patrol and monitor campus buildings and grounds, alerting to and appropriately responding to unauthorized persons, hazardous situations, and suspicious circumstances
- Supports school safety efforts with security inspections/audits, investigating school safety issues, and providing various types of safety or emergency response training
- Manage front gate traffic during arrival and dismissal
- Create and maintain daily activity logs, incident reports, and other documentation as needed, such as logs related to emergency exercises/drills or exterior door sweeps
- Initiate or respond to and assist campus administration in the investigation and resolution of security-related incidents
- Works with campus administration, various district departments, and public safety entities concerning emergency response protocols
- Compliance
- Ensure the district is compliant with federal, state, local, and district safety requirements
- Conducts safety and security audits of campus facilities and assists with the coordination and management of District safety and security compliance requirements
- Lead and facilitate Safety and Security meetings three times a year or as needed

**Qualifications**:

- Willing to respond to an active shooter event to protect lives and property
- Punctual, organized, and even-tempered
- Able to remain calm in high-stress situations
- Work at a campus during regular school hours
- Have a current Texas Licence to Carry
- Able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check and MMPI Psychological Exam
- Able to pass a DPS SCHOOL SAFETY CERTIFICATION COURSE

**Language and Skills**:

- Spanish fluency is preferred
- Working knowledge of TEA Safety and Security requirements is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word/Google Docs, Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets, and Microsoft PowerPoint/Google Slides Experience with G Suite is a plus
