The American Academy of Dermatology is seeking a Manager, Payment Policy located in our Washington, D.C. (or Rosemont, IL.) office responsible for managing the Academy’s payment policy and federal regulatory initiatives related to Medicare payment, as well as other health policy initiatives impacting the practice of dermatology. Assist in coordinating the Academy’s activities with the AMA/Specialty Society RVS Update Committee (RUC). Contribute to advocacy initiatives to influence federal regulatory policy to enhance patient access to dermatological care and ensure fair payment for dermatologists. Monitor and analyze proposed regulations, policies, and federal regulatory issues, evaluating their impact on the Academy’s membership and goals. Communicate relevant information to leadership, staff, and external audiences as necessary to achieve organizational goals.

**Responsibilities**:

- Monitor and analyze information on regulatory and policy proposals relevant to dermatology (e.g., Medicare payment policy, Tele-dermatology, Alternative Payment Models, etc.). Attend external meetings, briefings, and conferences (e.g., MedPAC, PTAC) and provide timely summaries to team members. Provide regular updates on the status of regulations and initiatives to members and staff.
- Support the Associate Director on RUC activities, including, but not limited to, coordination of necessary meetings, conference calls, level of interest forms, summary of recommendations, and RUC surveys to establish relative value unit (RVU) recommendations (work, practice expense, and malpractice expense) for dermatologic procedures. Conduct data analysis, code comparisons, and assist in drafting vignettes and justification, and code presentations. Provide guidance and input in RUC process and strategy as requested.
- Monitor and analyze Quality Payment Program and policies that impact physician payment. Engage with members and staff across the organization, including Practice Management and Science & Quality teams as well as with external stakeholders.
- Serve as a trusted content expert and contribute to the development of responses to federal healthcare regulatory activities related to physician payment and value-based payment models, that impact dermatology, including conducting data analysis, drafting comment letters, and facilitating meetings with policymakers and stakeholders as needed. Draft policy positions, issues briefs, and advocacy materials and provide recommendations for action/development of resources where appropriate.
- Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees, workgroups, and task forces as needed. This includes agenda development, meeting, and conference call coordination, drafting minutes, and tracking action items. Develop and maintain knowledge of the committees’ area of expertise and work cooperatively with volunteer members. Comment on AADA policy relevant to assigned committees and facilitate joint advocacy efforts with coalitions and medical associations.
- Ensure appropriate communication of regulatory and payer policies and activity to Academy members. This will be done through meetings, regular updates to the Academy’s website, and contributions to other member communication vehicles.

***Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in public policy, political science, economics, public health, or health-related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in government affairs, health policy, or state or federal government.
- AMA RUC experience preferred.
- Must be able to analyze complex regulatory and policy information and assess impact on Academy initiatives/goals.
- The ability to develop, coordinate and execute advocacy activities within the federal regulatory area is vital.
- Effective verbal and written interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills are essential. The ability to plan, organize, prioritize, manage details, and monitor own work and projects required.
