Job Title: Senior Associate, Policy, Fiscal Risk Management
Job Summary:
The Association for Public Policy Analysis and Management is seeking a highly skilled Senior Associate, Policy, Fiscal Risk Management to join our team at the fall conference. As a key member of our policy team, you will play a critical role in helping states achieve fiscal stability and improve their budgeting practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a Collaborative Work Environment: Develop and maintain a diverse, equitable, inclusive, and accessible work environment that promotes a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Conduct Policy Research: Conduct in-depth research and analysis on policy and practice changes related to fiscal risk management, identifying key themes and trends.
- Provide Technical Assistance: Provide expert technical assistance to state policymakers on fiscal risk management, including budgeting and planning for natural disasters and emerging risks.
- Build Relationships: Develop and maintain relationships with in-state stakeholders from the fiscal risk management community, including government officials, academics, and advocacy groups.
- Monitor Government Activities: Monitor key activities of federal and state governments, academia, and advocacy groups related to fiscal risk management.
- Plan Events: Plan, organize, and execute stakeholder meetings, conferences, and other events related to fiscal risk management.
- Represent the Association: Represent the Association at meetings and convenings, discussing complex fiscal risk management topics with stakeholders, including government officials.
Requirements:
- Excellent Communication Skills: Skilled at informing and influencing internal and external audiences through written and oral communications.
- Research and Analytical Skills: Excellent research and analytical skills, including synthesizing large sets of information and identifying key themes.
- Political Acumen: Politically astute, with the capacity to understand the needs and motivations of different individuals and institutions and maintain an evidence-based, nonpartisan perspective and approach.
- Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with generally four years of applicable experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relationship Building: Naturally develops and manages productive and collaborative relationships.
- Policy Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant research and policy topics and knowledge of state and federal government.
- Government Experience: Experience working with or in federal and/or state government is highly preferred.
