**BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE JOB**:
Under general supervision of the Community and Recreation Services Director, this position coordinates and supervises the operation of the municipal pool. Key responsibilities include routine pool and equipment maintenance and servicing; hiring, training, and supervising seasonal lifeguards; planning and scheduling of aquatic programming; monitoring aquatic operations budget; and assisting with special events as assigned.

Monitors Recreation Center pools for cleanliness, safety, and performance. Oversees daily testing and treatments for water quality and proper chlorine and pH levels. Monitors and records chemical usage. Orders supplies and tracks inventory. Performs mechanical inspections and minor electrical and plumbing repairs to pools and related equipment.

Hires, supervises, trains, and evaluates lifeguard staff. Manages and modifies lifeguard work schedules to ensure appropriate coverage. Provides direction and guidance to lifeguards on technical and procedural matters. May require functioning as a lead worker while performing own responsibilities.

Plans and schedules aquatic programming including lifeguard certification courses, swim lessons for all ages, youth recreational swim team, water aerobics, open swim hours, pool parties and rentals, and special events held at the Recreation Center pool. Utilizes software to maintain program information and produce reports.

Assists in planning annual program budget for aquatic operations. Routinely monitors budget for compliance with City policies and expectations.

Enforces pool rules and regulations for the safety and convenience of the public. Acts quickly, calmly, and effectively in emergencies. Documents accidents and other pool-related incidents according to City requirements. Compiles required reports correctly and in a timely manner.

Interacts with the public in a positive and informative manner. Uses clear verbal and written communications to effectively promote and administer programs and to coordinate with other departments, agencies and vendors.

Creates and disseminates marketing materials, surveys, and other information to determine the needs of patrons and the community. Updates information on the City's website and social media outlets. Collaborates with other departments and agencies to coordinate marketing efforts.

Monitors trends in aquatic programs and pool maintenance and recommends improvements if needed.

Assists Special Events staff with tasks related to planning special events that take place during the fall, winter, and spring months. Works special events as assigned.
