**Position Overview**:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Business Development to join our team. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop strategic partnerships and relationships in both the public and private sectors to accelerate Valar Atomics' timelines and achieve our ambitious goals on schedule. This position is critical in aligning our strategic partnerships with our overarching mission and objectives.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors.
- Work directly with the CEO, CNO, and Head of Regulatory Affairs to ensure alignment of strategic partnerships with Valar Atomics' goals.
- Design and execute creative strategies that advance our mission and accelerate timelines.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities and markets to drive growth.
- Negotiate and close partnership agreements that support our strategic objectives.
- Monitor industry trends and competitor activities to inform business development strategies.
- Travel domestically and internationally (1-2 weeks per month) to engage with partners and stakeholders.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required (fields such as law, political science, international relations, or business administration are advantageous).
- Must be able to relocate to El Segundo immediately.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in national government or governmental liaison roles, or 4 years of experience in international business development.
- Proven track record of developing and maintaining strategic partnerships.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Proactive and self-motivated with a commitment to Valar Atomics' mission and values.

**Preferred Attributes**:

- Experience in the energy sector or related industries.
- Strong network of contacts in government and industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Demonstrable high level of public speaking and communication proficiency.
