**Pay Range: $20-$25 per hour DOE ** **Leadership Level**:Leader

**Work Schedule**:
Up to 40 hours a week, working remotely and in office hours when needed

**Position Summary**:
The Payroll/Benefits Coordinator as a collaborative partner within the Finance Department and across the organization. This position is primarily responsible for payroll administration, employee record keeping, group benefits such as health, vision, dental, long term disability, worker’s compensation, retirement, life insurance, FMLA, unemployment claims.

**Essential Function**
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality under all circumstances.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy in payroll processing.
- Provide outstanding customer service to all employees and outside agencies with payroll-related questions pertaining to timesheets, earnings and taxes.
- Perform background checks for all new hires.
- Process weekly payroll (exempt or hourly).
- Train managers on timesheet approval process and ensure internal compliance with departmental and organizational expectations of timesheet submissions and approvals.
- Onboarding for new employees.
- Administers various employee benefits, including health, dental, vision disability, life retirement.
- Review and responds to unemployment claims with appropriate documentation and review monthly unemployment claims.
- Is liaison for worker’s compensation claims, working with Director’s for required documentation.
- Handles the FMLA leave process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork, determining leave eligibility, designating leave as FMLA-qualifying, requesting medical certification as needed, and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
- Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employee and their managers during leave within reason.
- Oversees the return-to-work process with employees returning from extended FMLA, worker’s compensation.
- Ensure current timekeeping/payroll software is being used to its full potential.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

1. Minimum of 2 years of payroll experience preferred.

2. Ability to maintain confidentiality in daily operations and to conduct daily duties professionally.

3. High school diploma required; some college courses in business administration preferred.

4. Experience utilizing an electronic timekeeping and payroll system.

5. Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

6. Ability to learn new software.

7. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with employees and the public.

8. Understanding of local, state, and federal laws involving employment, HR and HR policies.

9. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
