**Summary**

Under the direction of the Security Leadership Team at Spaulding Rehabilitation Network (SRN), the Security Manager is responsible for all security and parking operations, assuming complete management and operational control of SHC security and parking staff. This role partners with the Spaulding Security Leadership Team in the long-term planning of the departments. Key duties include overseeing staff training, conducting investigations, involvement in employee relations activity, submitting annual performance evaluations, managing payroll, administering corrective actions, maintaining budget limits, and assisting in budget planning and reporting. This position requires carrying a pager.

**Key Responsibilities**:
**Staff Management and Training**
- Orient, mentor, and support team members to achieve performance goals.
- Complete performance evaluations accurately and timely per organization standards.
- Ensure all major entrances and exits are monitored according to security standards.
- Manage staff to ensure pedestrian and vehicular traffic safety per department guidelines.
- Enforce rules and regulations regarding visitors, off-limit areas, and security breaches.

**Communication and Monitoring**
- Ensure timely exchange of information through shift communications.
- Oversee CCTV monitoring and report suspicious activities.
- Manage security alarms and door card access systems per department guidelines.
- Oversee and manage the security operations for our electric vehicle (EV) software.

**Special Assignments and Investigations**
- Conduct investigations related to hospital losses and thefts.

**Uniform and Appearance Standards**
- Inspect security officer/parking staff uniforms and personal appearance to meet department standards.
- Review reports, records, and duty logs for compliance with department standards.

**Representation and Additional Responsibilities**
- Represent security and parking at new hire orientations.
- Manage hospital parking, close supervision of contract staff, parking deposits, and budget maintenance per department guidelines.
- Flexibility to take on additional departmental, organizational, or network activities as per established objectives.
- Flexibility to cover vacant shifts as needed.
- Maintain accountability for valuables, property, and evidence in their custody, ensuring safekeeping and proper documentation.
- Be on call 24/7 to respond to any urgent issues or emergencies.
- Team oriented and must be flexible to support other Security colleagues throughout the network.

**Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities (include number and type of FTEs)**

- Approximately 8-15 Part-Time and/or Per Diem Security Officers and Switchboard members.

**Fiscal Responsibilities: (include size of annual budget)**
- Assist the Director of Security for Spaulding in managing the annual budget.

**Qualifications and Experience**

**Education/Degree**
- **Required**: Associate degree in criminal justice or related field.
- **Preferred**: Bachelor degree in criminal justice or related field.

**Experience**
- **Required**: Two years of supervisory level experience with extensive use of written and verbal communication skills, problem-solving, and public relations.
- **Preferred**: Three years of supervisory experience in a healthcare, law enforcement, or security department/agency.

**Licensure**
- **Required**: Must possess an active driver's license to perform necessary job-related duties.\
- **Required**: Massachusetts Driver’s License or a valid license in the employee's state of residence.
- **Required**: Obtain AVADE Instructor certification within six months of hire.

**Skills**
- **Preferred**: Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills for working with a diverse population, ability to work independently and as part of a team, initiative in anticipating challenges and developing strategies, high level of service delivery, and strong attention to detail.
