**Role Description**The Production Manager is responsible for directing forming, mold repair, and machine repair departments to obtain optimum performances in safety, quality, and performance efficiencies at the lowest operating cost.**Responsibilities**
- Ensure the manufacturing of glass containers are within customer specifications and quality standards
- Select and develop employees to adequately staff the forming department which includes salary administration, effective employee and union relations, developmental and training opportunities, and succession planning
- Manage departmental budgets including time, labor, and spending costs
- Establish and maintain a safe and healthy work environment always striving for zero accidents
- Monitor department performances and report on negative impacted areas while developing and implementing continuous improvement
- Comply with environmental and food safety standards as outlined in plant policies within the department
**Minimum Skills / Qualifications**
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Twelve (12) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience
- Prior experience with mold repair, machine repair, and job changes
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient organizational, analytical, and planning skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work in a heavy industrial, high-risk work environment
- Ability to work outside of regular work hours
- Ability to prioritize work and have a sense of urgency
- Ability to travel up to 5%
**Preferred Skills / Qualifications**
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline
- Fifteen (15) years of experience in glass manufacturing with an emphasis on the forming process and management experience
- Prior experience with the plant's forming process (i.e. press, blow-and-blow, etc.)
