- The Site Assessment and Remediation practice at AKRF delivers value on projects of all scopes and sizes, from individual lots and single-use buildings to large-scale mixed-use developments, corporate and institutional campuses, renewable energy facilities, and infrastructure improvements. We are seeking a field technician to support fieldwork activities in our growing Site Assessment and Remediation practice. This position is based in our New York City Office.

**Responsibilities**:

- Execution and/or supervision of field aspects of environmental monitoring, site assessment, and remediation including:

- Remedial excavation oversight (often at NYC construction sites)
- Community air monitoring with roving and fixed stations.
- Supervising subcontractors.
- Installation and operations and maintenance of soil vapor extraction and sub-slab depressurization systems, and other mechanical remediation systems.
- Conducting soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, indoor air, and ambient air sampling.
- Completing and maintaining logs, recording field notes, maintaining in-house equipment, and ordering equipment.
- Implementing work plans and standard operating procedures; communicating with project managers, vendors, and subcontractors.

**Essential Requirements**:

- High-school diploma or GED are required for the position; Associates or Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER, construction safety, and asbestos licensing are also a plus.
- Be willing to work 7am-4pm.
- Strong communication skills, including fluency in spoken and written English
- A strong mechanical aptitude with prior experience in construction oversight, sampling, and air monitoring. Experience with mechanical remediation systems is a plus.
- Comfortable and capable of providing oversight and clear direction to field crews; coordinating material and equipment deliveries and other field-related logistics.
- Identifying problems in the field; and, effectively problem solving in a high-paced construction environment.
- Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather and to engage in physically demanding site assessment and remediation-related work, including but not limited to lifting at least 30 pounds, is essential.
- Must reside in the New York metro area; be willing to work some nights and weekends.
- Have a driver’s license; be comfortable driving in the NYC metro area; and, willing to travel to more distant sites as required.

Compensation will range from $40K - $50K and commensurate with experience.
