The California Lottery is a multi-billion-dollar enterprise headquartered in Sacramento. It is one of the few state agencies that is a revenue generator, not accepting taxpayer dollars from the state’s general fund. Our mission is to provide supplemental funding to California schools while simultaneously supporting local communities. Ninety-five cents of every dollar spent by our players goes back to local communities in the form of contributions to public schools and colleges, prizes, and retail compensation.
In the fiscal year 2020-21, the California Lottery generated sales of approximately $8 billion with over $1.8 billion earned for California public schools. Lottery products are sold at more than 23,000 retail locations throughout the state, from independent neighborhood shops to convenience stores, liquor stores to supermarkets, and more. Retail product offerings include an average of 52 fun and entertaining Scratchers games and several draw games, including jackpot games such as Powerball, Mega Millions, and SuperLotto Plus, and daily games such as Fantasy 5 and Hot Spot.
**Job Description and Duties**:
- Evaluate and analyze changes requests, system impacts and alternate solutions.
- Assesses business scope, complexities, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into well-documented, high-quality requirements, functional designs, and system specifications.
- Support testing to ensure that the requirements are tested to changes made, and to ensure that the requirements are traced in the RTM.
- Determines relevance and potential value of new technologies to support business objectives and strategies.
This position is headquartered in Sacramento and is eligible for either a remote-based or office-based telework schedule. Employees must be able to report to their assigned headquarters office as needed. Travel expense to and from the assigned headquarters are the responsibility of the employee. Eligibility for telework requires employee residence in California per California Government Code Section 14200 which states: “telecommuting means the partial or total substitution of computers or telecommunication technologies, or both, for the commute to work by employees residing in California.
The Business Solutions Architect will work in a fast-paced environment, with competing priorities, and critical deliverables.
a. Schedule: This position has work hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. after hours work. Weekends, long and/or irregular hours, after-hours work, and holiday work may be required.
b. Travel: Statewide overnight travel may be required.
**Desirable Qualifications**
- Experience eliciting requirements through interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops and JAD sessions to produce all necessary functional and technical requirements.
- Experience in communicating and translating complex technical concepts to non
- technical team members.
- Experience with project management practices and the ability to document processes and procedures as needed.
- Self-motivated, working closely and actively communicating with team members to accomplish time critical tasks and deliverables.
- Expert level experience in leading and communicating across project teams and team members in support project tasks and deliverables.
Pay: $8,130.00 - $10,893.00 per month
