**General Job Function**
The Medical Office Assistant/Medical Assistant is responsible for managing new patient referrals, answering the office's main phone line, processes requests for authorization for medications and providing general support to and coverage for the Receptionist and Medical Assistant assigned to our Interventional Pain Management physician's team. The primary purpose of this position is to support the operations of Interventional Pain Management physician's team.
**Job Duties and Responsibilities**
1. Treat patients with respect, compassion, and dignity. Greet patients, vendors, and guests in a pleasant, friendly, and professional manner.
3. Process new patient referrals.
4. Process requests for authorization for medications.
5. Provide general support and back up for the Receptionist and the Medical Assistant.
6. Demonstrate genuine cooperation with all aspects of the SDOA injury and illness prevention program, including compliance with all rules and regulations, and continuously practice safety while performing assigned duties.
7. Other duties as assigned
**Qualifications**
The Office Assistant must have the ability to communicate and present information effectively within a team environment. This individual must possess strong interpersonal skills that would allow him/her to deal effectively in a dynamic position. This position requires strong attention to detail, written and verbal communication skills.
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Education and experience equivalent to certificate in medical office assisting, preferred.
- Experience in a clinical out-patient setting, preferred.
- Knowledge of medications and medical supplies/equipment, preferred.
- Familiar with medical terminology, coding, and worker’s compensation, preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
