**WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY**

As a Supervisory Grants Management Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by:

- Establishing goals and objectives for the staff and regularly reviewing, monitoring, and evaluating the effectiveness of the team in accomplishing grant management functions.
- Deciding on the basic content of grants management operations, making decisions on the new initiatives, and establishing priorities.
- Allocating resources or directing the reallocation of resources to maximize responsiveness to program needs.
- Determining priorities and new initiatives.
- Overseeing delegated responsibilities, providing technical advice/reports on policy, and financial aspects of grants.
- Working closely with program staff on long range financial and management goals.
- Performing the full range of supervisory work, including planning and assigning work to be accomplished, planning and organizing work for attainment of program goals and providing leadership to inspire confidence within the staff/team, making recommendations on staff promotions, disciplinary actions, incentive awards, and other personnel actions.
- Giving advice, counseling, or instructing employees on both work and administrative matters.
- Counseling employees on policies and procedures governing training, career opportunities, performance reviews, policy regarding interpersonal conflicts and participating in effective conflict resolution; and other various questions and procedures.
- Serving on internal and external committees.
- Serving as a resource to program officers and staff offices within SAMHSA to include managers, senior and junior grants management specialists and program staff, administrators, grantees, financial management staff and other SAMHSA and HHS staff associated with grants management related issues.

**Qualifications**:
**WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**

**Minimum Qualifications**: You must have one-year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the **GS-13** grade level in the Federal service performing at least four **(4)** of the following:
- Leading or supervising a team of grants management specialists.
- Monitoring or evaluating grants management functions through entire grant cycle.
- Drafting and/or implementing grants related policies or procedures.
- Developing criteria and standards for the planning, implementation and evaluation of grant or cooperative agreement proposals.
- Managing a complex portfolio of multiple programs and grants that include a variety of mechanisms including the more complex center grants and/or cooperative agreements.
