This position is based out of Feeding America’s Chicago office. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

**The Opportunity**

The Vice President, Strategic Gifts has primary responsibility for leading Feeding America’s individual Strategic Gifts program, including principal, major, annual major (high touch, mid-level) and planned giving donors and prospects. The Vice President leads and directs strategy and activities of the Strategic Gifts Team and conceptualizes, guides, and delivers mission-based engagements for Feeding America’s highest capacity individual donors and prospects. Additionally, the Vice President is an active member of the Department leadership team, working on organizational fundraising strategy in partnership with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and Vice Presidents from Corporate Partnerships, Philanthropy Operations, The Stewardship Center, and Foundation Relations teams. This leader builds the Feeding America National Office’s individual donor pipeline by ensuring that appropriate donor identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities are aligned and executed for donors to consider renewed, increased, and new investments in our mission and works collaboratively across the organization and the network, all while centering the needs of people facing hunger.

**Compensation**

**Salary Range: $216,000 to $221,000 Based on Experience**

**Responsibilities**:

- Help develop, direct, and execute comprehensive organizational fundraising strategies that enable Feeding America to fulfill its mission and deliver its strategic outcomes.
- Set and oversee the implementation of the annual operating plan for the Strategic Gifts team; develops and manages the annual Strategic Gifts expense budget.
- Supervise, train, and coach frontline Strategic Gifts relationship managers, including an estimated 2 direct reports and a team of 12.
- Partner with Philanthropy Operations leadership to ensure strong portfolio management and establish and track key performance indicators.
- Builds relationships with network member food bank leaders to advance fundraising and create collaboration between national and local giving. Develop moves management and communication strategies in partnership with the Stewardship Center that deepen relationships and increase giving from Strategic Gifts donors.
- Manage relationships with 10-20 principal individual donors and prospects ($150,000+/year donors), including highest capacity new donor/prospect relationships.
- Oversee Feeding America’s planned giving program including marketing and frontline fundraising strategies to drive significant growth in both planned giving revenue and long-term expected planned giving revenue.
- Develop strategies with the CEO, CDO, ET (Executive team), senior staff, and board to engage Strategic Gifts donors. In partnership with the CEO and CDO, manage board giving and board members’ role in the Strategic Gifts program.
- Participate in regular relationship management meetings with the CDO. Work collaboratively to ensure management of the Strategic Gifts pipeline and consistency in messaging and coordination of fundraising asks among all philanthropy streams.
- Help develop, lead, and guide individual donor giving societies, affinity groups and recognition programs.
- Represents Strategic Gifts fundraising function in internal and external meetings; prepares and delivers presentations to a variety of audiences.

**Required Experience and Qualifications**:

- Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and major, annual, and planned giving programs as well as fundraising campaigns.
- Experience in developing donor strategies, briefing and request materials, solicitation approaches and donor stewardship for major donors and prospects.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with all levels of staff, volunteers, donors, and prospective donors.
