ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of the Friendly Visiting Coordinator, the Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in all administrative/clerical tasks at the program. Additionally, the Program Assistant will assist with recruiting volunteers, client follow-ups, and outreach, while providing support for all programming at the Friendly Visiting Program. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

- Assist with the volunteer recruitment process i.e., screening, reference checks, etc.
- Assist with monitoring calls to clients and volunteers as needed
- Assist with data entry i.e., case notes, units, etc.
- Assist with organizing, filing, copying, scanning, faxing, mailing, etc.
- Assist with the coordination and expedition of volunteer recognition events.
- Assist with volunteer outreach within and outside of the catchment area.
- Assist in the collection of units of service from volunteers.
- Other related duties as required by the Friendly Visiting Coordinator and Management.

COMPETENCIES
- Demonstrated knowledge of and a genuine concern for the physical, mental, and emotional needs of older persons
- Basic computer skills, _abilities, and knowledge _with the ability to learn database maintenance
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and customer service oriented
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- A self-starter with a positive attitude and willingness to help others
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable with assigned work schedules and tasks

- Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism/bias; ability to understand their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting communities that have experienced systemic oppression i.e. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- A minimum of one (1) year of related experience working with older adults preferred
