**Job Summary**:
The Business Development Director - Manufactured Products is responsible for overseeing the research, designing new products, making improvements to existing products, and engineering documentation oversees all aspects of an the manufacturing processes, as well as, plans and directs the purchase, maintenance, and layout of equipment.
The Business Development Director develops, implements, and maintains strategy for the manufactured product lines, while also providing technical expertise, training and customer interface to support the commercial strategy, increase the knowledge and skill-set of the company Commercial Team, enhance the customer experience, and positively influence commercial success. The role works closely with members of the commercial leadership team, marketing department, and operations to ensure continuity in product offerings and company goals.
**Primary Duties & Responsibilities**:
- Recommend and implement changes in products and processes to improve manufacturability and profitability (cost out), including functional review of drawings and Engineering specifications.
- Establish and implement early identification of potential problems with new and existing products and processes
- Collaborate on the engineering and designing new valve models
- Works closely with members of the Engineering team to design valves and engineering documentation
- Ensures that manufacturing drawings are consistent with the working layouts for product design
- Review all designs meet industry standards, including ASME BPVC, API 6A, and API 6D
- Directs and performs all aspects of product development, product changes, and product promotions including development procedures, specifying components, packing and header design, product positioning, pricing, catalog, and sell copy sheet, training aids, and point of purchase merchandisers;
- Manages the vendor relationship for respective product groupings and coordinates and works with vendors to agree and execute joint strategies
- Actively engages across the organization as the technical sales expert for their products, and performs product training within the company and with existing and potential customers, as needed;
- Manage and communicate sales information and product changes both internally and externally;
- Regularly perform pricing and competitive analysis by customer channel and recommend strategies to improve market position, improve quality or reduce costs;
- Builds relationships and increases Company visibility through participation in Company-sponsored activities, trade shows, chamber of commerce events and other similar activities;
- Create and maintain customer trust in the company as a quality, value-added, solutions provider
- Perform other related duties and assignments as required
**Positional Requirements & Qualifications**:
- Education & Experience
- BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering degree required
- CAD experience a must
- Proficiency in SolidWorks
- Experience in creating engineering design reports
- Experience with traditional metal removing machinery, such as lathes, mills, OD/ID grinding, honing, lapping, deburring, sawing, etc.
Skills & Abilities
- Previous lean and/or six sigma certification highly desired. Implementation of 5S programs.
- Organized
- Ability to work independently but also with a team
- Problem solving skills
- Knowledge of valve types and their functions
- Ability to work diligently with little to no direction
- Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance to LVS driving guidelines
- Clear background check and drug/alcohol screening
**Essential Physical Functions**:
- Travel: less than 10%
- Lifting up to 20 pounds
- Bending, stooping, walking
