**JOB SUMMARY**:
- This position establishes a safe and stable school climate and culture by collaborating with administrators, teachers, parents, and volunteers to ensure that all students are successful in the academically rigorous setting. The Dean will think critically about ways to solve disciplinary issues, including academic and non-academic issues, in order to ensure that students are getting the support they need to maintain high levels of performance. In addition, the Dean will build relationships with all students and families to help create a positive and supportive community.
**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- **LICENSURES, CERTIFICATIONS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS**:
- 1. Professional Educator License registered in Lake County
- 2. General Administrative Endorsement preferred but not required
**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:
- 1. Considerable knowledge of current best practices, laws, including due process and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), and interventions regarding the education of special needs students;
- 2. Considerable knowledge of specific disabilities and familiarity with common children’s mental health disorders, as well as specific strategies/interventions to use in the classroom or other school setting;
- 3. Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations and laws;
- 4. Knowledge of child development;
- 5. Knowledge of District and state attendance policies and laws;
- 6. Knowledge of District and state reporting procedures and requirements;
- 7. Knowledge of educational philosophy, teaching methods and approaches, and currently researched best practices and strategies;

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS**:
- The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the position and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.

Acts as the Principal’s designee during Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) meetings which includes assisting in the implementation of IEPs, assisting in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual learning plans for at-risk students, assisting in scheduling, communication, set-up, and implementation of parent-teacher conferences, back-to-school orientation and open house events, and assisting in the direction of and/or serving on the school improvement team and other building committees as assigned;
- 2. Assists in coordinating the activities program which includes preparing an annual schedule for all middle school activities which includes interviewing and selecting coaches and advisors for activities, monitoring and assessing the performance of coaches and advisors, scheduling events and facilities transportation necessary for events; securing officials for all games and/or meets, preparing information for students and parents/guardians regarding available programs and participation guidelines/requirements, preparing and submitting requisitions for activities program equipment, maintaining records rel
