We have an exciting opportunity for a Section Manager, Facility and Test Management to join our team
The Section Manager, Facility and Test Management will:
- Manage the Facility and Test Management Section within the Energy and Space Simulation Group, supporting the NASA Crew and Thermal Systems Division's (CTSD) System Test Branch (EC4)
- Supervise the daily operations of over 25 employees, including Test Directors, Mechanical Engineers, Work Control & Project Managers
- Collaborate with NASA clients to gather test and project requirements, assemble and oversee teams to fulfill these requests, and handle project management tasks. Generate necessary estimates, and monitor risk, cost, schedule, and technical performance indicators
- Maintain operational readiness of numerous test facilities through regular maintenance, pressure system maintenance, and instrument calibrations conducted by the teams
- Engage with senior leadership to produce estimates reflecting resource needs, cost, schedule, and potential risks
- Responsible for administering resources effectively within budgetary and time limitations and contributing to the overall success of the company through a driven and efficient team
- Responsible for employee safety in the operational areas and provides adherence to HSE standards and corporate policies
- Leads and advocate innovative thinking and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve cost savings and expedite processes
- Participate actively in the leadership team, assisting Senior Managers with strategic planning and recruitment efforts
- Handle personnel management tasks, including hiring, onboarding, timecard approvals, leave requests, training certifications, annual performance evaluations, regular team meetings, and employee recognition though awards
- Organize operational schedules, coordinating activities to ensure proper support of CTSD facilities, meeting or exceeding customer expectations
- Communicate effectively with fellow managers and project managers to resolve issues
- Offer employee counseling and ensure compliance with EEO/AA policies
- Fulfill other responsibilities as needed
**Here’s what you’ll need**:
**Requisition Qualifications**:
- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience
- At least five years in a management or supervisory capacity, with responsibilities including employee coordination and forecasting
- Proven track record of managing and leading sizable teams
- Established leadership skills in manufacturing and facility oversight
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks as directed
- Strong communication abilities, encompassing information gathering and development and presentation of materials to both customers and internal leadership
- Exceptional organizational capabilities, with the proficiency to manage numerous tasks simultaneously
- Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- This role requires a full-time, on-site commitment at the Johnson Space Center (JSC)
**Requisition Preferences**:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from an accredited engineering school with at least ten years of engineering experience, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and thirteen years of direct engineering experience, or Ph.D. degree and nine years direct engineering experience
