As a Financial Management Officer, GS-0501-15, your typical work assignments may include:

- Serves as the Financial Program Manager for OBIM. OBIM is the lead entity to support global security through interoperable biometric identity services and information sharing.
- Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies various guidelines, policies, regulations, etc.
- Advises and provides counsel to employees regarding policies, procedures, and directives of management.

**Specialized Experience**:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:

- Manages a staff engaged in financial resource planning, budget formulation and execution, accounting, reporting, contract management and execution, and personal property oversight and management.
- Provides staff direction and guidance in designing and implementing the organization's business and financial management systems including finance, accounting, budget, cost analysis, and management functions.
- Establishes policies and procedures for accomplishment of financial goals and to ensure Federal regulations, Congressional mandates, and administration policies are met.
- Directs accounting functions performed in conjunction with the review and analysis of budget requests and enacted appropriations for impact on resource allocation planning, budget execution and performance.

**Certification**: This position requires at a minimum a DHS Level 1 Program Financial Manager Certification with the ability to achieve a Level 3 Certification within 24 months of employment.
- Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
- **Current or Former Political Appointees**:The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
