Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Human Resources, the Director of Human Resources is responsible for overseeing employee relations, performance management, leave of absences, workers' compensation, and unemployment claims at BGCSF. This role involves managing an HR Generalist and ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws and regulations.

**KEY ROLES (ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES)**:
**_ HR Operations and Delivery (60%)_**
- Collaborate with the Payroll department to manage and communicate benefit, retirement and wellness programs.
- Support the open enrollment process and related communication strategies.
- Continuously enhance benefit offerings and services for employees.
- Maintain statutory compliance with FMLA, ADA, COBRA, ERISA, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.
- Engage with employees to offer assistance and guidance throughout all leave of absence instances and workers' compensation claims.
- Keep current with regards to laws and regulations impacting employee benefits to ensure compliance.
- Prepare the review of annual benefit reports (e.g. IRS Form 5500, FSA Discrimination Testing, etc.)
- Coordinate comprehensive case management and program compliance for FMLA and related employment laws.
- Work with the Payroll & Benefits Administrator to coordinate compensation and benefits for employees on leave or workers compensation.
- Oversee ergonomics and return to work programs.
- Respond to all unemployment claims and represent BGCSF at unemployment hearings.
- Maintain employee relations, leave of absence, and workers' compensation files.
- Ensure the reliability of the benefit information in the HRIS System.
- Supervise HR Generalist and departmental files, records, and reports.
- Oversee the creation and updating of onboarding documents.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze departure trends, and assist with special projects as needed.

**_ Employee Relations - 40%_**
- Facilitate HR touch base meetings to address employee relations issues and enhance team performance.
- Conduct check-in conversations with new hires as part of their 10/30/60/90 onboarding process.
- Support the Senior Director of HR in implementing, enhancing and managing the Performance Management program, ensuring that goal development and reviews are completed on time.
- Oversee corrective action processes and assist managers in disciplinary procedures.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for employee relations matters.
- Mediate conflicts and conduct investigations as necessary.

**Requirements**:
**REQUIRED SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE**:

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related, field or commensurate work experience.
- Five years of experience, preferably in a youth-serving non-profit, with proven success in human resources and staff management.
- Proven ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment-related laws and regulations.
- Exceptional communication, organizational, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and maintain confidentiality.
- Understand and adhere to the significance of confidentiality in accordance with the standard protocols outlined by HIPAA.
- Proficient with Google-Suite or similar related software.

**PREFERRED SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE**:

- PHR or SPHR accreditation preferred.
- Strong diplomatic skills, customer service orientation, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent attention to detail, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Paylocity.
- Ability to operate with a strong sense of urgency.

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT**:

- Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for at least 2 hours
- Must be able to sit at a computer workstation for long periods
- Willing to travel occasionally.

**PAY**:
The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience, and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and BGCSF needs. At BGCSF, our decisions are based on other factors and dependent on the circumstances of each position. Depending on the need and requirement of the position, an individual could be hired at or near the entry-level, mid-level, or top-of-the-range for their role and compensation. As such, a reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000 - $105,000 annually.
