- Salary range: $150,000.00 - $165,000.00- The New York City Department of Correction (DOC) is an integral part of the City’s evolving criminal justice system, participating in reform initiatives and strategies aimed to move the City towards a smaller jail system without compromising public safety. DOC is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff, visitors, volunteers, and people in our custody. Importantly, safe jails enable DOC to provide people in custody with the tools and opportunities they need to successfully re-enter their communities. DOC operates facilities and court commands across the five boroughs with more than 9,000 diverse professionals and knowledgeable experts.- Typical responsibilities of this position include the following tasks:
- Directing, coordinating, and monitoring the activities of Directors, Deputy Directors of Investigations

as well as a staff of investigators. Engage in the performance of conducting Intake Investigations of Use of Force incidents;- analysis of evidence and the preparation of unbiased investigative reports;- Ensuring that the quality of Intake Investigations and Full Investigations, timeliness of reports and

levels of efficiency meet the standards determined by policy, law, and the Nunez consent judgment;- Directing the workflow and formulating the strategy of Use of Force Intake Unit, in conjunction with

the Deputy Commissioner for Investigation and the Directors of the Investigation Division;- Collecting internal data and drafting reports relating to the ID’s compliance with the Nunez

consent judgment and Federal Monitor’s standards;- Communicating with the Federal Monitor on Intake and Full investigations related to

Use of Force, and on ID’s compliance with Federal Monitor’s standards;- Formulating division policies, compliance initiatives, and training programs for staff;
- Preparing, reviewing, and evaluating reports submitted for administrative action; making decisions

regarding Use of Force investigations;- Working in close coordination with federal, state and city investigation and law enforcement

agencies; testifying at hearings and court proceedings.Minimum Qualifications1. A Master’s Degree from an accredited college in Public Administration, Personnel Administration, Business Administration, Human Services, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Psychology or a related field, plus three years of satisfactory experience of a nature to qualify for the duties and responsibilities of the position, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position; or
2. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory experience of a nature to qualify for the duties and responsibilities of the position, at least 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, or executive capacity or supervising personnel performing activities related to the duties of the position; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and nine years of satisfactory, full-time progressively responsible experience as described in "1" above, 18 months of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity.
