Designated as a Predominantly Black Institution, Kennedy-King College offers high quality education that is both accessible and affordable to a diverse and vibrant student population. Kennedy-King College is City Colleges’ Center of Excellence in Culinary Arts and Hospitality, as well as Construction Technology education, and is an emerging center of equity in the arts. The College is also home to the Kennedy-King Tech Launchpad and offers notable liberal arts and career programs to satisfy an array of student interests.

In recent years, Kennedy-King College was recognized as a top-10 finalist for the prestigious Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, and in 2023, the college was selected as one of ten participants for the Achieving the Dream’s “Accelerating Equitable Outcomes” initiative. Participating colleges are identified as those that “choose transformation over tradition, curiosity over inaction, and innovation over the status quo.”
Reporting to the College President, a Vice President - Academic and Student Affairs serves as the college’s Chief Academic Officer, responsible for planning, developing, administering and providing management oversight of the college’s instructional programs (associate degree, skill/certificate, adult education, continuing education), the management and evaluation of instructional faculty, staff and administrators, and the evaluation of programs for compliance with academic and accreditation standards and practices.

As the Chief Academic Officer, the Vice President provides strategic leadership for a college’s instructional functions, working collaboratively with senior administrative staff to develop and implement innovative approaches to enhance academic excellence and provide students with innovative teaching methods, the latest in educational technology, and committed support services. The Vice President - Academic and Student Affairs also leads and coordinates initiatives in working with senior administrators and external stakeholders to build partnerships, education/career goal pathways, and internship opportunities to enhance and support learning experiences. Performs related duties as required.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:

- Provides overall strategic leadership for the college’s instructional functions with guidance from the President.
- Plans, administers, and evaluates instructional programs of the college. Directs curriculum review and development.
- Oversees the Offices of Instruction and Student Affairs.
- Assists the President in planning, organizing, and directing the operations, staffing, and budgeting needs of the college.
- Supports college plans to ensure continuous and measurable improvement in student life cycle benchmarks including enrollment, retention, persistence, completion, and post completion success.
- Facilitates collaborative relationships between the district and college departments to develop a student-centered approach to enrollment and retention.
- Plans, establishes priorities, assigns work, monitors progress, and evaluates results of all academic programs and student support services at the college.
- Supervises all aspect of the system of academic personnel administration at the college. Develops, coordinates and/or implements staff and faculty development programs.
- Provides advisory recommendations to the President on all academic faculty appointments including tenure, promotion and lane advancement, sabbatical, and all related matters to ensure that such processes comply with the terms of faculty and staff bargaining agreements and CCC’s policies and procedures.
- Conducts performance evaluations and establishes professional development programs and succession planning for employees for direct reports including college deans, program administrators and non-academic staff.
- Collaborates with colleagues on identifying and implementing creative recruitment and marketing strategies designed to meet student enrollment goals.
- Works with faculty and deans to develop, evaluate and modify curricula and programs. Leads the Illinois Community College Program Review. Creates and maintains articulation agreements.
Proactively researches and integrates national best practices for community college and higher education to ensure continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with Institutional Effectiveness to establish and
