A Culinary Assistant to the Chef located Test Kitchen Facility in SE Houston, includes work as a organic prep sous chef-in -training, test kitchen assistant. This position supports the head chef this Commercial Kitchen, KDA Showroom+ facility, baking for private, corporate and public clients, catering and/or Instructional.
- Their responsibilities include:

- Food preparation: Assisting with simple tasks like washing, peeling, and chopping vegetables, prepping and cutting meat, mixing ingredients, and sometimes making sauces as required
- Adhering to Kitchen safety and hygiene. Assisting with kitchen and food safety and cleanliness standards, including washing dishes and sanitizing surfaces
- Inventory management: Monitoring inventory and ordering new ingredients as needed
- Equipment maintenance: Assisting in maintaining kitchen equipment and reporting any issues to the chef.
- CommunicationWorking well within a team anSlightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
- Stocking: Monitor food stock and place orders as instructed
- Quality Control: Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items
- Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
- Gardening Duties: Chef uses some farm to table products, so must be capable in some work in garden at kitchen as necessary

**Requirements**:

- Some experience in proven work experience as a Chef or Cook
- Hands-on experience with various kitchen equipment (e.g. grillers and pasta makers)
- Knowledge of culinary, baking and pastry techniques
- Leadership skills
- Ability to remain calm and undertake various tasks
- Excellent time management abilities
- Quick Study and/ or ability to follow recipies
- knowledge of cooking techniques and recipes is a plus
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations
- Culinary school diploma preferred or in school is a plus

**Job Types**: Part-time, Internship

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 20 per week
