Metis Practice Solutions is seeking a dedicated Medical Records Clerk to join our team in San Diego. We are a professional management services organization committed to supporting independent medical practices. **Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Lead Referral Coordinator will provide support to the Practice Supervisor, assist with the oversight of referral coordinators, and ensure the efficient operation of the clinic.
- Serves as liaison and resource for Referral Coordinator staff.
- Maintains provider relations. Troubleshoots issues and concerns related to, or from, Specialty/Diagnostic Providers.
- Assists in the training of new Referral Coordinators and other Referral Coordinator staff.
- Maintains, monitors, and edits Provider distribution list.
- Monitors productivity of Referral Coordinators.
- Generates productivity, status and other reports on a weekly and monthly basis, or as needed.
- Assists with monthly staff meeting preparation. May present on topics such as process changes, updates, company policies, etc.
- Audits Referral Coordinator customer service calls for quality and accuracy.
- With guidance from Practice Supervisor, addresses performance and other disciplinary matters as needed.
- Provides excellent customer service to patients, vendors and employees.
- Interacts in a professional manner and works collaboratively with staff, departments, and patients.
- May be assigned duties as a Referral Coordinator.
- Other duties or special projects as assigned.

**Competencies & Success Factors**
- Knowledge of medical terminology and organization services.
- Knowledge of office management techniques and practices
- The ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to provide written and verbal communication.
- Skill in providing internal and external customer service, both in person and over the telephone.
- Skilled in prioritizing, time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to use multi-line phone system, including transferring calls.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and completes delegated tasks.
- Ability to work at a high professional level, including self-motivation and self-discipline, assuring that work is completed accurately, efficiently and without significant supervision.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of medical office experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year as a referral coordinator or equivalent.
- Previous medical background and medical terminology required.
- Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding a plus.
