The Coatesville Youth Initiative (CYI) is seeking a full-time Director of Development who will be responsible for the planning, implementation, and management of a dynamic and innovative development program **t**hat will expand both grassroots and high-level engagement to meet or exceed the annual fundraising goals, support current programs, new programs and long-term sustainability of the mission. This experienced professional will take the lead role in resource development and management with a special emphasis on donor relations and stewardship to support the CYI mission and strategic direction. The Director of Development must be a highly motivated, independent leader who can function without direct reports. Familiarity with youth development, education, substance prevention, and community mobilization a plus. A minimum of five (5) years of experience, a professional and outgoing demeanor, and the ability to embrace our CYI guiding principles is required.

**Salary**: $70,000 - $80,000/year

**POSITION OBJECTIVE**

The Coatesville Youth Initiative Director of Development is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Executive Director. This staff member works with the Executive Director, board members, donors, volunteers and staff to advance the mission of the organization by establishing and executing a comprehensive development plan focused on current needs and future growth. The Director of Development must be a strong, independent professional who can function without direct reports.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

**Development Strategy**:Establish, manage, and lead a comprehensive development strategy to achieve an annual fundraising target that supports CYI programming and operations. Work with Executive Director to develop the long
- and short-range fundraising goals. Recruit and develop a standing Ambassador committee to assist with all development activities, focusing on outreach and cultivation of new donors.

**Nongovernment Grant Support**:Manage the grants programs for public and private foundations, corporations, community organizations, and churches. Responsible for drafting and finalizing required proposals and all proposal components to ensure they are submitted in accordance with requirements. Appropriately correspond and follow up with grantors, building strong partnership for the future. Ascertain opportunities to maximize gifts and grants, including research to identify new individual, foundation and institutional prospects, including government grants.

3. **Donor Relations and Stewardship**:Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate, foundation and individual donors. Develop and grow the existing donor base, increase the number of donors, and evaluate the capacity giving of existing donors. Strong focus on major giving, multi-year commitments, and planned giving, for organization sustainability.

4. **Donor Management and Reporting/Metrics**:Confidentially manage donor information and maintain all records. Acknowledge all gifts and pledges in a timely and professional manner. Manage all donor reports, mailing and metrics through the organizational fundraising database.

5. **Fundraising Events**:Develop and execute all fundraising events to raise funds and increase awareness about CYI and its mission. Recruit and manage event committees to assist with all events and seek support from the Board of Directors. Secure corporate and individual sponsorship and support to ensure the success of each event and provide appropriate follow-up to retain ongoing support. Seek the support of the Ambassador Committee.

**6.** **Direct Mail Campaigns**:Design and execute a multiplatform approach for the annual appeal campaigns to individuals, building long-term grassroots support for the organization and creating awareness about the CYI mission and community impact.

**7.** **Capital Campaign**: Serve as a liaison, and resource alongside the Executive Director, to support the work of independently contracted Campaign Consultants responsible for a $10M Capital Building Campaign.

**8.** **Community Engagement**:Serve as a CYI ambassador and advocate; represent CYI to current and potential partners both locally and regionally; publicize and raise community awareness of the activities of the organization, its programs,goals, mission and the needs of its users.
