Volunteer Coordinator

**Job Overview**:
The Volunteer Coordinator supervises volunteers, providing direction, coordination, and consultation for all volunteer related activities and programs. They are responsible for recruiting, training, and scheduling volunteers as well as a variety of management responsibilities within the Fisher Home. For this role, you need to see the value of hospice care, be compassionate and have excellent interpersonal skills. Must be knowledgeable in volunteer recruitment, performing tasks such as background screening, and providing support. The goal is to manage and maintain the volunteer program to support the residential and community hospice programs.
**Duties**:
- Support and give direction to volunteers, including connecting volunteers with residents and community patients
- Participate in weekly IDG Meetings and learn the needs of residents and visitors to direct volunteers
- Coordinate with volunteers to maintain a volunteer schedule
- Oversee and maintain kitchen schedule and coordinate volunteers to cook meals
- Recruit, screen, and orient new volunteers frequently, including background screening
- Maintain records for volunteers and volunteer activities in alignment with state and federal agency requirements
- Knowledge of the Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation in regards to volunteers and volunteer trainings
- Coordinate with volunteers to run errands for medication pick ups, supply drop offs, etc.
- Coordinate with Master Gardeners and Even Tide Singers and all volunteer groups
- Organize and maintain volunteer personnel files
- Participate on Outreach and Veteran’s Committee
- Attend and participate in Leadership, All Staff, and any other mandatory meetings
- Plan in-service trainings for volunteers
- Willingness and ability to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job
- Effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
- Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions

- Knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs involving volunteers
- Excellent communication skills and a compassionate nature
- Proficient in basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and EMR)
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree Advanced degree in Human services is preferred
- Minimum of two years experience with Hospice or Health Care setting, particularly related to volunteers
- Valid driver's license
- Access to reliable transportation
- Telecommunication accessibility
